Don't want to hijack this thread...Just want to see if I can stow away on this Rigoletto thread for the journey to SoCal. No one over in the BMW forums seems to be on this ship.

About me: I picked up my new BMW 335 convertible in Munich last month thru European Delivery, and after dropping it off in London, it looks like they took it down to Southampton and put it with all of your brand new Mini's. No complaints here, as it'll give Ludwig (that's its name) a chance to get to know all his "brothers-and-sisters-from-another-mother" during the voyage. Better he learns to play nice with others early in life, rather than have an attitude.

Anyway, see you all at the ship's midnight buffet, and then maybe later at the craps table...

Dude, you are welcome to join us. I just want to warn you about hanging out with Mini owners excessively tracking their cars. Nice picture.

Thanks for the welcome!!

Actually, you'd be surprised how obsessive the BMW people are. Makes sense, though...we all obsess over what we're passionate about, especially when it comes to getting a new car.

Yeah, the picture is when I stopped for lunch by a lake in the Austrian Tirol, on the way to the Linderhof castle.

We're on the Map!!

It's been quiet on here since the Rigoletto left port a couple of days ago... well, they've reported in and the ship is now showing up on tracking!

Tick.Tick.Tick. Watched pot and all that. Glad I have a few mini vacations this month to take my mind off the waiting.

Another Arizona car here! I show that my car was loaded on the Rigoletto on June 5th, so it must have been one of the last ones onboard. Are all of the cars loaded under the deck? It's hard to tell from the photo of the ship.

Only 1 dealer? That makes it a little tougher. I think we have 14 in CA.

Looks like the ship is going right through the Azores. Hope they load up the boot of my car with linguisa. I love that stuff. Hotter is better.

I'm guessing a week from unloaded to ready at the dealer (for the closer ones). Figure Oxnard to the bay area should be 6-8 hours. Scottsdale will be a bit longer.

What dealer did you use in the Bay Area? I'm at East Bay MINI (closer to Mtn View MINI, but we just didn't mix well)

I used East Bay Mini. It was ok. Pretty laid back. They gave me the keys and told me to test it out. Nothing about actually coming back. I haven't talked to them since a couple days after I ordered. When did you order?

Hey, I'm buying from East Bay Mini too...ordered on 5/11. Did they tag you with that $2,000 dealer markup? We got it waived but other than that, there were absolutely no snags when working with them. I was pretty relieved since this was my first time buying a new car. No pressure at all.

We'll be purchasing a second new car this Fall (VW) and I hope it'll be just as easy.

They say that the markup is for out of area people (people that won't use their service department). We didn't have any problems. We got there at 10a and place our order around noon. It took us a bit to decide between the cooper and the clubman.

I'm from "out of the area", but they didn't charge me the markup. That was a condition of me going there though. I called prior and talked to the MA and said I won't even drive up if there is a Mark Up (only driving from San Jose). But, the dealership was much better than MINI of Mtn. View, at least to me. The test drive was great, they just gave me the keys and said see ya later! I enjoyed that.

I'm only from Hayward but they didn't say anything about who got the markup. Our MA said that he got it waived since we're trying so hard to save money (two future car pmts and a baby on the way). We chose a base model with only a couple options. The markup wasn't even mentioned until we were almost finished ordering. In any case, I'm happy with our experience there. We were practically out test driving within minutes of arriving.
