I've been converted to MINI

I was a long time fan of VW and until about 8 months ago when I started my new job which entailed driving about 125 miles daily. I was driving a 6cyl VW Jetta of which I enjoyed very much but I was not getting enough bang for the buck at the gas pumps 18-22mpg. So, I started looking for something that would be economical but still fun to drive. Initially looked at GTI but was not very impressed. Then looked at R32 but was not economical at all and $$$. Looking at competators for GTI I found MINI. THANK GOD! I test drove one Oct 07 and fell in love! Long story short got color scheme I wanted, with options I wanted and now get around 33mpg driving as crazy as I was driving with my VW.

I now recommend all I come across to check them out. Well built car, super sporty and def a higher end car without a high end price tag.

I am glad to become part of the MINI community.

Thanks for the report! I'm thinking of getting out of current car replacing it with a mini - among the reasons is fuel economy. Are you getting 33mpg with the 'S' or base cooper?

Welcome! We're glad to have you! I'm currently working on paying off my Dodge Neon myself.

brook,

I'm commuting 60 mi. round trip, freeway 5 days a week in a 2008 MCS and my combined gas mileage is right on 33 mpg. So that's about 75% or slightly less highway mileage, the rest is running around town. Last night I hit 450 miles on a tank as I rolled into the gas station. Even with the gas prices doing what they are doing, I managed to fill up with 13.67 gal. for less than $50. w00t!

Welcome :) I owned two VDubs before I gave up on them as well. Too many engine problems. Love my Mini. Maybe a little too much
