Question on Tire setup for 18's

Hello everyone I am a newbie here. My wife has had her 2005 Mini Cooper Chili for about a year now and it's about time to get some wheels. I am looking at getting some 18's but would like to run a bigger tire setup than 215/35/18 I ahve seen a person with a yellow mini running 225/40/18 I have also seen 225/35/18. My question is will the other two give me problems as far as rubbing issues. I am planning on lowering with M7 springs. Any suggestions would be gladdly accepted. my goal is to get a good ride but actually a safe ride for the 18's cause I know that the thinner tire could get a lot of damage to the rim. thanks again.

Talk to Alex at the Tire Rack, he can give you some good advice.

215/40/18 work fine on mine with 40mm bs. The rear at stock ride height rubbed slightly on the flares. Fixed when i trimmmed 5mm x 3" in one spot.
