At what RPM's do you shift?
In you manual tranny MINI's?
My shifting experince is with some relatively low revving machines, ie Peterbilt :) ( red line ~ 2k) And I just wanted to get a feel for where the normal shift points are on MINI's as mine is going to be here is about two weeks |
Do it by feel, not by numbers. When you don't need the power, short-shift for economy and less noise/wear/tear. When you do need the power, let it rev.

In the flatness of the city, I usually shift out of first at 2200rpm or so, then about 3000 for the rest of the gears.
In the hills, it's completely different  |
1st i shift at 4k, and it gets lower as the gears get higher. No point shifting at 5k in 5th on the street right?

Maybe I am crazy?
I shift at 3k from first to third... then to fifth at 3500 or so... then to 6th when im ready... sometimes i have to go to second from first (when traffic forces me to)... then i go to 4th then 6th from there... doesnt this save wear and tear on the clutch? If im feelin' froggy, i will go from first to second to third without depressing the clutch... but maybe i am just weird...

I shift when I need to. Completely depends on the conditions.
