All Aboard the UNDINE! Southampton 11/06/07 -- New York 11/15/07

Booking Number: GBSOU579356
Callsign: SHJC
http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do
Voyage Priority: EA744-UND

Live Ship Tracking at Southampton: http://www.ais-live.co.uk/AIS%20Live...uthampton.html
Shipping Movements: http://www.ais-live.co.uk/Solent%20S...ementsabp.html
Southampton Webcam: http://www.ais-live.co.uk/Solent%20W...ptondocks.html

No Bill of Lading yet.

A little weary at posting this, as my (wife's) Mini was at the dock since 11/02/07, and originally slated for the FREEDOM. However, looks like it obviously didn't make the ship (although Minis before and after ours - VIN - did). Now it has updated to the UNDINE and is marked as loaded on the vessel. Was also worried because I saw the ship left on the 6th, but not updated until the 8th.

I think this post is a little late for using the webcams, but through some searches, I did come up with the following -
- PDF of the UNDINE below. Glad to know that a Swede (owned/flying flag) will be carrying my wife's new Mini. Hopefully it will feel right at home next to my Saab after the voyage.
- Apparently set sail on 11/06/07. Left sometime between 19:32 and 20:32, travelling 7 kts / SE.
- Sailing to New York with an ETA of 11/15/07 04:00, travelling 19.6 kts / WSW. (Last update available from ais - Southampton at 23:32)
- Some action shots shown here (obviously not live or mine) -
http://www.shipspotting.com/search.p...wall&andor=AND (not all are of the ship)
http://photos.jacksonville.com/mycap...image=13711274

That's all I have for info now. I am at work, so I can't pick up my aislive (free) subscription. And Sailwx only has one update.

Perhaps others are in the same boat we are in (haha) and care to share!

Okay... I know there are others out there... 84 others to be exact. Looks like our company includes some 2008 convertibles, as well as a bunch of the regular MCs and MCSs.

Here's the .txt list (wouldn't take .xls), although I will print them to PDFs when I get home, as it is not working here. Two tabs - one for Bill of Lading and the other more important Booked (who actually made it). Must have been that ours didn't make it to the loading process for the FREEDOM. Wife liked that better than UNDINE... but hey, it's on its way!

Well, it appears I am the only one from NAM on this ship.. other than sancochojoe's "first" order.

Supposed to land tomorrow. Have been tracking its progress so far. Last night it could look north and see Halifax or west and see Boston!

AIS isn't showing North America, and nothing significant came up at Shinemicro.com. Also, Sailwx stopped with the updates too. It became more frequent, but they are 12+ hours from their last update of yesterday. Oh well.

Few more days until the VDC. My MA has been giving me general updates. Originally it was middle of next month (December), then end of the month (November), then Thanksgiving (her in the US) week!, and now back to end of the month.

Hopefully dock Thursday, VDC and head out over the weekend to arrive here in Buffalo NY on Monday! That would be a hoot!!! The wife is soo excited.

Guess I am just updating myself... but back from hockey tonight, and I have found the UNDINE is approaching the NY/NJ harbour.

This is time delayed, so maybe she has even docked... pretty exciting here! I just hope the voyage went well and no delays.

That site only allows you to see Europe...how do you see the east coast?

I see the east coast. I had trouble going from the main AIS site where I was only able to see Europe. When I backed up to world view, I would see the red outlines, but they were not clickable to zoom in.

I searched the intertubes and found links for up and down the east coast. Using those direct links, like the one above, brought me to New York. From there, I can click in and out. This has worked from both my home and now work computers. I am logged in, so not sure if that makes a difference.

As it is on time delay, it may be docked, as here it is shown pulling into New York Harbour. Click on the UNDINE, and it will red circle it for you to identify in the mass of ships.

Yeah!!!! It is docked...

http://aisfree.aislive.com/Influx.as...taten%20Island

(Or even better, WAS!!)

The wife was very excited when I told her before we left for work this morning. Of course, I just said it was in the harbour.

In case there are any lurkers, and one can not see the AIS map, here's an image (UNDINE is at the "pier/dock" in the middle and slighlty left.. it didn't save the image with the circle).

Sancochojoe... thanks for staying with me on this!

Sort of disappointing that there are 83 others (besides the two of us) and they haven't found there way here. I see the other threads and they are ripe with followers.

Oh well! Wish I could get a webcam down there, but the ones I have found I can't view at work (not sure if they would show anything anyway).

Odd though is that I now see a second entry for the UNDINE's itinerary, where they are in and depart NY 15/11/2007, but then NY again for in on 15/11/2007 and depart 16/11/2007. Wasn't there before, and still doesn't show the wife's Mini as unloaded or discharged.

Picture above is about the same as before, except UNDINE is now yellow. Unload, unload, head to VDC to get here to Buffalo!

Looks like you may be the first recipient of the week 45 build that posts on this discussion forum.

Well that would be a privilege and an honour!

Not sure though, 'cause I thought there were some week 45'ers on the Freedom that sailed two or three days ahead of the UNDINE. We just missed it (I guess), having been originally booked on the Freedom. Ar was scheduled to be finished on the 1st of November, but actually finished on the 2nd.

Just checked the cargo site, and it appears they have sailed from NY to NY (the first one-it's in red), so maybe that means she's unloaded?! The AIS site still has it docked. Now to the VDC and up and over the NYS Thruway.

Yeah...I noticed that too. It has to make two port stops in NY.
Thats pretty fast if it is already going to the next port. I would suspect the second stop is the mini offload.

Woohoo!!!

Showed up last night as discharged, and just caught the UNDINE leaving the NY Harbour.

This might be the hardest wait of the whole process now.. getting through the VDC to the dealership, as I am not sure when I will hear about any of it, and I can't "watch" it.

Hopefully we will hear something from the dealership and my MA soon. My wife is really hoping to have it for our Thanksgiving trip. Wants to surprise everyone.

Will you have any additional accessories done to it at the dealer?

No, no additional accessories yet. Dealer really didn't ask us about any, but we probably wouldn't have anyway. Do need to get a winter tire package as the white stuff is to start tomorrow (pitter out next week, but will eventually get here).

Have been looking and considering the clearbra to protect her, but other than that, we will probably add the roof rack (more for when needed, although I see it's not all that easy/appropriate), some mud flaps, and boot map for accessories. Depends what happens with our Motor-tober deal (or lack thereof). No big delays (I suspect), so hopefully VDC is quick, as is trip to the dealer).

I didn't want to buy them all through the dealer either, as this MSRP stuff is not my taste. For my Saab, we have tons of site sponsors, etc., that regularly discount prices 20-30% for members. I have finally found that here (morristown and others), as I was getting quite worried we may have to pay full price. And seeing a bunch can be DIY (and retrofit), I am now considering the alarm and a few other goodies that were wants and not needs when ordering. Wondering about programming though.

We went with only the base stereo, as I have a buddy who is one of the best car stereo places in the WNY area, so I may dynamat and will at least upgrade the speakers. (No boom boom, just better sound)

That's about it. I would add the go fast goodies, but it is my wife's car, and quite impressive to start. So I think we will stay the course for the winter, enjoy the spring, then decide where we are at next summer.

I know this one was the "first," but your replacement has the JCW, right?

Yes...the tuning package, the Aero kit and the JCW tail. I didn't add the suspension.
