I took my mom to the grocery store today and waited in the car for her. A car pulled in next to us and the lady opened and hit the door into the driver's side of my car....I'm still a little angry and shaken up. I may sound calm now, but I didn't let her go that easily. She apparently only hit the handle, but I couldn't see b/c it was so dark -- must wait till morning to see if she left a little scratch or nick. And she actually had to nerve to tell me "You don't have to be a b**** about it" --- OH COME ON!!!

Question about the trunk

So I press the "tailboot" button on the key, but the alarm goes off. I turn the alarm off, press the unlock button twice, press the trunk button, and the alarm still goes off. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for everyone's support -- just had the chance to look at the driver's side. No scratch!

Trunk alarm!

Yeah, my MA told me that if you have the factory alarm, instead of a trunk open button on your remote, it's now a panic alarm! No trunk open on the remote

I got an alarm. When I press the tailgate button a few times it unlocks and opens the tailgate. If I hold down the tailgate button it activates the alarm.

So how do we open the trunk, then? I guess I'll find out later this afternoon. My appointment is at 3:30 - yippee!!!

Hmmm, I guess I just took his word, but what he said seems to match-up with what Suzander experienced, I'll give it a shot today.

Hey, either the other ones haven't picked up their MINIs yet or they are having too much fun driving to send us pictures!

PS- Suzander, you could save space by just listing what you DID NOT get on your MINI!

LOL! I didn't get NAV and I am regretting that...

3 more hours of waiting to go!!! I just washed my Purple Haze '05 MINI, getting it ready for the big trade in, and it looks great. I am very sad about saying goodbye to him, though. I wish we had the carport space (and $$) to keep both!!

It was one of the settings under the "User CP" section. There is a selection of little avatars you can choose from.

I picked up a very small Magellan at Costco ($199), it's small and fits in a cup holder

It's not too late, all you have to do is decline your current order and reorder!--and wait, and wait, and wait...

Ha, yes, well.... I think I'll accept my order as is. The cost of the Nav plus the additional cost of getting everything I ordered on an '08 would add up to $4-5K more! That, and I don't think I want to go through all the waiting again. We do have a hand-held Garmin GPS already, which does work for navigation on trips. It doesn't talk to you, though. The thing about the Nav that I wish I knew before was the whole car integration thing that it does. Oh well....

Will you let us know how that works out for you? I've been considering getting a Navigation System but I'm on the fence. On the one hand it would be pretty cool, but on the other hand I don't really see me needing one all that much.

I like it a lot. I had been looking at them, but didn't want anything bulky for my soon arriving MINI, but I saw this one at COSTCO and got to play with it there, and yes, she talks to me, it's pretty cool. Now I know that my house is 5508 feet above seas level! It was more than worth it, and it's portable, so I can slip it in my pocket for hikes. It's about the size of my Palm Pilot. I think the model number 3225. We call her Maggie (and I don't even have a name for my MINI)

Way cool! Love the driving lights.

Hey I tried my trunk button on the remote, it's a panic button now - that's it.

Thursday mid-day the 29th my MA calls me and tells me my S has arrived and will be prepped , the JCW rotors and strut bar installed and it will be ready for p/u on the 30th (Friday). OK, I'm in the middle of day two of a really ugly three-day across town move, but (after listening to him beg for a end of the month delivery) I tell him I'll be over sometime after 7pm the 30th.

It rained all day the 30th.....and come 6:30pm I was whipped, not to mention wet and cold. Tempted to call my MA and tell him manana but I didn't. After a change into dry clothes I had my wife-for-life drop me at Brecht about 7:30pm in a seriously torrential downpour.

My MA had used a covered service area to park my freshly washed and waxed S for my inspection. After checking all the "stuff" that need to be checked and signing the appropriate docs I headed for home. Sports setting plus deep water on the roads = Yeeehaaaaaaaaaa.

Here's a single shot of "Zut" sitting in his new covered parking area. . . . Wish th rest of the house were as neat and organized.

Unfortunately the less than timely move has limited my mileage to a measly 200 in 4 days (booooHissssssss).

Should have the MACH V springs & anthracite Rota RBs on by the weekend (he says fingers crossed).

Thanks!!

Guess what? My trunk button opens the trunk. This must be a configurable feature, although I don't know how to do that yet.

C2W - nice ride! Your driving suit there looks like a person walking.

Yeah, I've kind of noticed that with the actual trunk release too. But my Fob only sounds the alarm ; (

Hey but did anyone notice that when you open your door, with the Fob in the slot, your MINI says "Cooper-Cooper, Cooper-Cooper..." : )

Ha!!! I did not understand what he was saying, but now I do! Thanks!!

For some reason my auto lock feature, you know the one where the doors lock when you drive off, was turned off, probably when the MA was showing me stuff. I have been trying to reset that feature but I have not had any luck thus far. The directions in the manual are lame.
