EARTHQUAKE
 

At 8:04 there was a 5.6 earthquake near San Jose, or 7 miles east of Milpitas. We felt it here in Tracy, and we are 50 miles from that area. Reports have no major damage at this time.

I felt it here in Hal Moon Bay. Upper story of the house rocked and creaked a bit, no damage. Funny thing I was on the USGS site and there were no postings there. Hope no one got hurt nere the epicenter

Just talked to my roomie, he is in that area for a company party and sees do damage. CNN is reporting no major damage reports as of yet.

Hopefully not. I live right in the Alum Rock area. Big jolt, but didn't escalate or last long enough to really be that damaging. Everything's still standing at my end. Course, I still have my wallet, keys and briefcase of important documents at my side, just in case. :wink: :wink:

Wonder what it did to the turkeys(Birds) in Turlok, Darmog. Hope the poutry farmers are not picking up pieces.

Good to hear no damage, but the Mini would make a fast get away if need be. :wink:

Yep, we definitely felt it here in San Jose! Luckily nothing was damaged, but it did give us quite a shaking! :impatient

felt a minor roll here in Turlock...

Ya I was out checking on a few neighbors that are "new" to CA and were a bit freaked. I should have scrolled down, I missed your post, and we really didn't need two. :roll:

I live in Turlock - not far from Turlok :nod: minor sway only...

The house here has a 12" pre-stressed concret floor, and we have a 450 gal spa in the solarium, which has a granite surround..........there were
ripples in the water, that was the first clue, along with 1,200 sq ft of glass that was making a bit of noise. :wink:

my room is in the basement of a 60+ year old house. right when i heard the creaking of the house, i jetted out of there! i didnt know how long this house can last through a quake especially at the age of this house hahahah

i was at work and i didn't feel it:sad: . haha i guess i was too busy moving around.

I live in Union City and I definitely felt it. I had just sat down for dinner and it felt like a pair of large hands just grabbed the house and started shaking it back and forth. I felt like it lasted forever, although I've heard news report saying it was between 15 and 30 seconds, which is a long time for an earthquake.

We have two overhead lights on chains (don't look fancy enough to call chandeliers) and they started swinging back and forth like crazy.

This was not the big one, but it was definitely an attention getter.

I will now get serious about updating our earthquake safety kit.

felt it big time in hayward...I was at college up on a very high hill...scary

yeah im majoring in bio as well. and just like you it will be my last qtr since im signing up for the coast guard.
