My MINI's been ordered - Watch as I attempt to cope with the wait!

First of all, good to be a part of NAM. I've been reading the boards over the past few weeks, and I can't even begin to say how many tips I've picked up. Great site.

Now, on to the good part; I ordered my BRG/W MCSa on the 15th and now comes the wait. I was told by my MA (Tony at MINI of Towson, by the way) it would be about 4 1/2 weeks, which isn't all that bad, but it hasn't even been 4 days and it feels like forever. Egads!

866 ASK MINI reports that my precious is in production and scheduled to be complete by October 23rd.

Full list of options for my Cooper S
  • British Racing Green, white roof
  • White bonnet stripes
  • Chrome mirror caps
  • 16" "Bridge-spoke" wheels (those are equipped with All-Season tires)
  • Rear fog lamps
  • Premium, Cold Weather packages
  • Automatic transmission
  • Dynamic Stability Control
  • Tuscan beige leather
  • Piano Black interior
  • Chrome line interior
I know the All-Season tires are dreadful, but my MINI will (knocking on wood furiously) get here in late November, so it'll probably already be getting wintery up here in the Great White North (Maryland  ). I'll swap them out at a later time.

But anyway, there's really no way I'm going to be able to wait a month. Nah, I'll go nuts before then.

Must. Motor. Now.

Congratulations on your Mini order! I placed my order on the same day, but it looks like you're going into production faster than I am.

ASK Mini is saying I am in Week 43, so I should start production in the next few days.

Enjoy your wait - I can't stand the wait...feel like I'm going crazy....:impatient

Welcome to NAM fellow BRG MINI (potential) owner. I'm waiting too. My car's on the ship crossing the Atlantic. I can totally sympathize with the wait. I was doing better when I could track the car thru the factory and onto the boat (Tortugas) but now there's no information until the ship goes thru the Panama Canal. Hang in there. I'm told it's worth the wait!

Welcome!!! You will definitely appreciate the support of your fellow ocd MINI lovers. Because from personal experience, your children, spouse and friends will swear you have gone off the deep end! In a good way, of course!
Driving your own MINI home is so worth the wait, and your car sounds beautiful. That Tuscan beige with the BRG is CLASSY!

Maybe both of ours will catch the same boat ride over. I wonder how often ships leave for the east coast. Hopefully, the intervals between them are VERY SHORT.

Future BRG Owners unite!

How much longer is the wait for ships to reach the west coast compared to the east? My condolences.

Don't worry, I'm already beginning to annoy my family. It's only just starting, I'm afraid.

Thanks to everybody for the welcome.

According to ASK MINI Bella, my Mini, is schedule to ship sometime around 10/31. Given that it takes about 10 days to cross the Atlantic...hopefully we'll both be enjoying our Minis around mid-November

As for the airing...I say we see how many Week 43ers we can round up and split up the cost of the airplane

Tomasthanes Oct 19, 2007 12:19 AM

My BRG MCS should arrive on the west coast on November 5th. Just a few more days after that and I should actually get to drive it home!!!!

Donna/Mike Oct 19, 2007 11:56 AM

Welcome to the MINI world - and Congrats - we have all felt that pain of delivery. We'll all be here waiting for the BIG day...

I'll trade ya, ours takes 21 days to get to Southern Ca, then a week to get up to the Bay area....

Also some enjoy the 4 week wait from Southampton so much, they choose to do it twice.

My MINI was 'born' on the 13th of October and loaded on a ship October 19th due to arrive at Charleston SC on November 4th. :)

Actually, where does Maryland get its MINI shipments from? The New York VDC, right?

Halloween shipping. Haunted MINIs! :eek2:

Let's see... err, the airlift option was my idea, so you should probably pay for it. I had to think it up. It's only fair.

Holy cow - it's across the pond! My MINI's on the "Toronto", which left Southampton on the 24th and is scheduled to leave Halifax, Nova Scotia today. 5 days to cross the Atlantic?!

The details page has the Toronto stopping in New York on the 2nd of November, and leaving that same day. I don't have any VDC-installed accessories (I think. o.o), so I hope that means it'll be here next week.

(happy Halloween)

Didn't I hear that the Toronto hit an iceberg? Wait...that was the Titanic. I found my '07 on the dealer's lot, and feel like I've really missed something by not experiencing the anticipation that comes with ordering, but then again, I've always been into instant gratification! I know you guys are gonna flip when you get motoring!

Actually, I did have my eyes on one Sparkling Silver at the dealer's that I did consider buying, but it was a manual and had the NAV, which I think is a tad overpriced (cool, but $2000 is steep), so I ended up custom ordering.

You know what you're missing? Sheer insanity.

WHY WON'T THE OWNER'S LOUNGE UPDATE?! WHY HASN'T IT BEEN ASSEMBLED YET?! WHERE'S THE BOAT?!

And I've been incredibly lucky so far. Catching a ship one day after production? Not bad at all.

Edit: The Toronto has just left Halifax - it's on its way to New York now!

Massive_Lemon Nov 1, 2007 11:01 PM

The Toronto is closing in on New York. I can't wait any longer.

Tony from MINI of Towson just called; my MINI has arrived at the dealership and is ready for pickup.

There is no smiley expression that fits my current mood.

:O

MINIxB Nov 7, 2007 09:48 AM

Woo hoo!! Congrats! I'm excited for you.

Massive_Lemon Nov 7, 2007 10:43 AM

Where will I drive first? How long does it take for the Clearbra to be applied if I had them do it? Where do I put the riding lawn mower that's currently clogging up garage bay #2? How long till I start modding my new car? Will I get free floormats?

Pressing questions!

Is it just me, or did my order go through very fast? 23 days from Order to MINI. I'm very impressed.

jimmieshear Nov 7, 2007 10:48 AM

LOL what an exciting day, if it was me I would have to call in sick to work and make a bee-line to my dealership :)

Enjoy your day, and congrats!
