All Aboard the FIGARO - Southampton 10/01/07 Port Hueneme, CA 10/22/07
I know how that goes, I usually do the same- but Tharkun knew where Stanwood was!
( He was also kind enough to point me to the Puget Sound Mini club, which has a few nice benefits, including some local discounts and things... )
So, the moment I complain about a lack of Pacific North-North Westers, they start coming out of the woodwork

Mill Creek ?? Let me think......164th and Bothell Highway use to be two lane roads in the country.........Mill Creek started out as a very "small" housing project, and when I-5 was built everyone wondered why all that money was wasted on a freeway that had no traffic 80% of the time.

It's now the other way 'round. No traffic(jam) 20% of the time...
Man, Tharkun, you must have been in the area a LONG time ago if you remember an empty I-5!
164th and I-5 is a nightmare in rush hour. Have never heard of Lake Thomas. There is Martha Lake near by and Silver Lake in South Everett on BE Highway. Now you have me curious.

Well not to date myself
but when I was born my parents has a section of land (660 acres) in the area off of HWY 99 in the now congested area of 128th street.
The only major road was HWY 99 and if you lived right off of it you had power and water.....we did not.
I traveled to CA for the amusment parks and Disney land for most of my life and always said I would never live in CA. Been here in the bay area for almost ten years
now and well I do miss the green of WA, I do enjoy over 320 + days of the sun and being able to keep my cars clean and ride motorcycles when I want. Also now Disneyland
is only a 6 hour trip, actually taking off Thursday morning for a 5 day visit with Mickey, but leaving Mini home.

I joined the PS Mini group and post over there as Pigwidgin as well. Haven't received any confirmation that I'm in the group yet, but I sent in the PayPal payment a few days back. So now there is another Northerner in the club!

Tharkun: That sort of acreage is (sadly) a disappearing thing around here. I grew up in San Jose and Modesto part of my childhood so I'm doing the opposite of what you're doing. I've lived in Seattle area almost 20 years and I'm still cold all the time! Maybe someday we'll move back to the sun and warmth but for now, Pigwidgin is gonna have to get a lot of baths.
Gota run. Talk to y'all later on today.

Last time I was home was over 6 years ago, was trying to schedule a trip up before winter in Skeeter but Disneyland got in the way again.

Just checked google maps, amazing they have not changed road names. Take Mill Creek road, changes to Seattle Hill road, left on 35th ave, a few miles north on 35th on the right
is Thomas lake. Use to be very remote and great for bass fishing.

For those that are new to ship tracking once Figaro is past the coast line, the the tracking link above and the AISfree maps will no longer show her position. Once in the Atlantic the only way to track her is using the sailwx.info site. From the history info for Figaro, the last time she reported in was 6/21/07. So if the Captain does use the AIS system she will show up, if not, you will not see her on maps again till with in the Panama coast.
For those of interest I'll post some links and info about the Panama area and hints on tracking her thru the canal.

That AIS-Live link is pretty cool. Right now I see Figaro in a little clump of 3 green ships.
So, Tharkun, your little Thomas Lake is about 2 miles from our house. I never realized there was a lake out there but it doesn't surprise me since there are little lakes all over the place around here (nestled in between the hoards of housing developments!).

Wooo Hooo!
Looks like they started transmitting after all. Here's a link, direct to us if you'd like it. Looks like we're already out into open ocean. Where's the sea-sick smiley at when you need it?

Congrats.....seems you have a lucky voyage, there is no previous history on sailwx, so looks like the Captain is using the ASI for the first time.
But be prepared for him not checking in daily, hopefully you will be able to track to the canal, will help pass the time.
No kidding- Tharkun, do you get Frequent Matterhorn Miles?

If he does not and you want, you can use a google map that allows you to plot a location, take the last reported coordinates and plot them on google, then add 400 miles each day and you will be close to his progress.
Disneyland
Owning a membership in the Disney Vacation CLub does help, saves the cost of lodging. We alternate yearly visits between Disneyland and Disney World. But we do have to suffer at this park since they do not have any of the villias like DW, here we are forced to stay on the concierge floor of the Grand Californian hotel

Luckily an update came through at midnight UTC.
