New to MINI's and Need help!
 

Hi all!

Just bought my first MINI, a 2002 Medium Blue with white stripes & 18" chrome wheels (sharp!:thumbsup: ). Anyway, the car did not have a cruise (who gets a car w/o cruise anymore?) and I need to get a cruise installed. Can anyone tell me if there is a good aftermarket cruise control or can I get the stock cruise and install it myself?

Maybe you can find a wrecking yard that will pull all the cruise control pieces parts out for you. I dont know how difficult it would be. We've done it with other vehicles (added AC too), and it wasnt too bad, just incredibly time consuming. Wrecking yards always advertise on the Internet if you dont have a local place. Im sure also there has to be an aftermarket one that would fit the car...just might not be as pretty! Good luck to you.

Moodylewdd, Thank you for your reply. Since I posted my question I have found quite a bit on cruise controls on this site. I have thought about going to a junk yard and getting the parts, but there is a harness that I would need to install as well. There apears to be a kit from MINI, but I can't find anyone who has sctually installed it and the computer has to be flashed as well. If I try to get the kit and have it installed I will post a thread and let everyone know!

That sounds good to me! Hope you get it all worked out. I know if I didnt have cruise, my lead foot would have gotten me into some serious trouble. Best of luck to you!!!

Just wanted to say welcome to NAM. I own a 02 also but was lucky enough to have the cruise on it. Good luck with fixing your car.

Take note that MINIs are drive-by-wire instead of a direct-link cable, so a cruise control needs to be able to handle that. I've been looking for a little while myself and haven't found anything. Let us know if you can.
