Description: The Auto Sportplus control module for the R55, R56 and R57 2nd gen new MINI adds several convinience features: Automatically enable sport mode on start-up, automatically defeat start/stop engine control on start-up, automatically enter any desired DSC mode on start-up and Stealth Mode Accessory Control!

Each function can be enabled or disabled via the facotry buttons, just hold the appropriate button down for 5 seconds (to select DSC mode, one to three quick taps of the DSC button are required). Accessories are controlled with two quick taps on the appropriate button. After installation, all normal button opreration is maintained.

After owning my 2008 MINI Coopr S hatchback for a few months, I found myself regularly hitting the "Sport" mode button as soon as the car started, because I like driving in Sport mode. Then I stumbled across this little gem and decided to take the plunge. After it arrived I got a little nervous upon reading the installation instructions because I know absolutely ZERO about auto electonics, and installation requires tapping in to some of the MINI's stock wiring. Also, the wiring is color-coded, and I'm color blind. At any rate, I installed it one Saturday morning, with the aid of two phone calls to a very gracious and helpful support tech. My only problem was locating the proper connector on the MINI that I was supposed to tap in to. The layout of the connectors on the support instructions didn't appear to correspond at all to the layout of the connectors on my MINI. However, it finally dawned on me that the diagram in the instructions was actually rotated 90 degrees and once I took that into account things got much easier! I think the install took me maybe 2 hours, but I'm sure it would be a lot faster for people who know what they're doing.

When I first fired it up after the installation - nothing! Consulting the directions again, one must hold down the Sport Mode button for 5 seconds to activate (or deactivate) the Auto Sport Mode. I held the button down 5 seconds, restarted the MINI and like magic, the Sport Mode button lit up in maybe 1-2 seconds after starting. It has given me absolutely NO problems at all, and now I don't have to remember to keep hitting that damn button every time I start my car! Highly recommended.
