The ALTA R56 Front Mounted Intercooler goes hand and hand with other performance upgrades on your 2007 Mini Cooper S. While MINI was kind enough to install a factory intercooler at the front of your MINI, it is still very small and restricts performance. Seeing this as huge room for improvement we created the first and largest Front Mounted Intercooler for the 2007 Mini Cooper S!
Add roughly more than 10 WHP in about 3 hours of work! So far, the ALTA FrontMounted Intercooler is near the top of the list for best bang for the buck part available for the R56. Below are back to back results of our FMIC test on our 2009 JCW. The only part swapped between runs was the ALTA intercooler for the stock intercooler.

Pros:
Solid material, Seems Constructed Well
Cons:
Terrible Fit, Poor Design, Lack of real Design Elements
I am very disappointed in this item. It might have well been some universal intercooler. It barely fit the car. The Bumper will not re-attach after it is on the car, the boost tubes will not connect properly, I wouldnt feel comfortable driving with this on the front of my car. I would feel as though the boost tubes would just blow off. I spent 3-4 hours trying to get this to fit on the front of my R56. Ultimately ending in a punctured AC condenser and no FMIC installed. I do not recommend this product. It feels as though Alta may have cut some corners to get this out on the market quicker. This is not a good product.

Pros:
Stealth look is good! nice simple design
Cons:
fitment needs work, the angles of intake and exhaust are a bit off and you have to do some trimming of plastic to make it fit right...
does it yield results? oh yeah! very good results, the downside is that it isn't a direct replacement... because of the different in and out tube angles, you have to really stretch cold side piping for it to fit snuggly... all in all it took me 3 and a half hours to get it on... i personally have the stealth one, seems to work very VERY well. i do one mod at a time so i can find out what each mod does... the intercooler seems to help engine power and torque from around 2k to redline with the biggest gains being at 2500 and 4900 rpms (since i don't have a tune i still have a dip in my torque curve). all in all it added 17whp and 22wtq over my previous bolt-ons...
