supersize

Description: This replacement coil intensifies the spark output of your ignition, helping your air/fuel intake charge burn more completely. This is especially good for cars with smaller supercharger pulleys and other upgrades. The results are smooth idle and improved mid-range power. Installation is a snap--the coils connect right to your factory wiring but the four copper sleeves in the corners will need to be drilled out about 1/16" to allow for the stock studs to fit. It is a good idea to use higher quality plugs and ignition wires with this coil pack. Please check out our Kingsborne wires and Berur and Denso spark plugs.

SPECS: Maximum Voltage: 36,000 volts; Primary Resistance: .051 ohms; Secondary Resistance: 12K ohms; Inductance: 7 mH; Turns Ratio: 77:1.

Fits these MINI models:

02-06 Hatchback
04-08 convertible

Pros: Eliminated flat spot just after cold start
Cons: Not a true 'bolt on' accessory, Needs better description of installation requirements

The four stock bolts that are removed from the stock coil pack have sleeves secured around them and are too large to install in the MSD unit. Some have suggested that the MSD coil pack mounting holes be drilled out. I disagree; find the correct size metric stainless Allen bolts at the hardware store and use them. Drilling out the MSD coil pack will weaken the mountings points.

Pros:
Cons: sleeves too brittle to drill reliably.

sleeves too brittle to drill reliably. cracked two of the four. Bottom of sleeve copper is reinforced and will not drill without extraordinary force.
Get the right screws as 970S recommended.
