Description: Helix/RDR has developed the first intake to combine reasonable pricing and actual horsepower gain. The Helix/RDR intake utilized industry leading filter surface area, while keeping the price under $200. According to RDR, dyno tests conducted on 4/6/04, the Helix/RDR Intake out-performs a leading brand intake by 4.2 hp on a bone-stock MINI. Helix/RDR utilizes top-quality CNC machined and powerdercoated heat shields, as well as re-useable 1,000,000 mile, high flow filters.

Pros: Big bang for 200 bucks
Cons: Extra heat shield is a bit hard to figure out where to install...not their fault

The installation took minutes. Quality was very good all parts were in the box except the installation guide. They immediately email one out to me.
Before my MINI felt like it was bound up between shifts; like a notchy power band. Now it's 100% smooth all the way. Every MINI S should have one. I was very pleased with the purchase.

Pros: Well designed. Large filter. Looks serious.
Cons: No installation instructions or directions for maintennance.

Installed in less than an hour. After downloading the instructions, I followed them step-by-step and it went on without any issues (except one minor, see below). Looks great, the filter is larger than other similar kits. There is more noticeable supercharger whine under load (but that means it is working).
Issues:
It took a week for the item to be shipped. Apparently there were problems with the filters being out of stock.
The unit was also slightly blemished but they did call to tell me and knocked off some $ for the inconvenience. (Sweet!)
Suggestions:
Need to enclose a 2.5" - 3" hose clamp to replace the factory one on the intake hose. The factory clamp does not re-use well.
Overall, I am happy with the product and would recommend it to others.
