Description: www.AutoXCooper.com is happy to bring you the Megan Racing R50 Cat Back System. MR had already developed a system for the Cooper S and with the voice of the Mini Cooper community has developed a Cat-Back exhaust system for the Mini Cooper as well.

With it's 2.25" piping, sleek Oval-Canister and 3" Slash-Cut tip all developed within the desires of the North American Motoring community, this exhaust has a nice low and deep tone. With very little interior resonance, this exhaust maintains the elegance of the BMW while on the outside it makes itself known as the sporty car that it truly is.

I have this system and LOVE IT! The sound clip below is my R50. Yes it's louder then some, but my GF can still sleep in the MINI at speed on road trips even with the rear seat delete.

Excellent Product. Sounds great and I get good comments from club members who have all the other exhausts. Has an awesome burble!! I can see how for some people it "might" be alittle loud for them. My only complaint is it doesn't line up centered in my OEM cut out. It's alittle to the right. I probably could fix it but not a big deal.

I was the first person in the USA to have this product from Megan. Installalation was very a simple bolt on. The sound is awesome. People would tell me that it sounded just like a true British sports car. I plan to get one in the futrre for my mew MC.

Cons: Cabin noise takes a little getting used to

I was part of the original group buy of this as well. I've also been the owner of a JCW Sound Kit.

This exhaust is meaty in every good way - even at low revs. The sound has a very distinctive british sports car sound.

Compared to the JCW Sound Kit, it's much more aggressive and economical.

Power gains and fuel savings are subtle if any.

Pros: sounds great, fits great, better throttle response on my CVT, good price

i just had mine installed at minicorsa today.

i have the CVT tranny in my R50 2003 and when i first got it i had a little stumble from a dead stop- traffic light, stop sign, etc. removing the factory air box and adding an aFe C.A.I helped a little. adding the megan made it perfect. i imagine now it just gets a nice flow from front to back.

i never expected big power gains and i still don't. for me it was all about the immediate throttle response mentioned above and it really excels in that area for the CVT. MPG is TBD.

sounds great and beefy. when i toggle over to "SD" mode i get really nice sound when hitting the gas and also when letting the CVT do it's engine braking on the down revs. what i like alot also is at highway cruising speeds in regular "D" mode the exhaust sound is still there but quiter- not droney at all.

my only beef isn't a true beef- just a personal thing. i really love the OEM beer can tip for some strange reason. maybe because it's so MINI. maybe the megan tip will grow on me in time but, i saved my original tip just in case i want to taper down the tailpipe a little and put it back on. the exhaust on a whole looks really sharp and shiney, bends were nice and the cannister looks really sweet. it's a well built system. personally i couldn't be happier.

As with one of the previous posters, I run the Megan in conjunction with an aFe CAI. I had it installed just a few weeks ago and have put about 2K miles on it thus far.

The sound is wonderful at idle, under acceleration, and at most RPMs. I like the subtle burble during deceleration. It definitely adds the perception of muscle to the R50. I don't notice any appreciable power gains but the better throttle responsiveness is quite noticeable. I love the look of the exhaust tip--much more so than the OEM beer can. There is not very much clearance between it and the cutout on my Aero Kit bumper cover; I had to do a close examination to confirm the existing clearance (about 1/8"). I haven't detected any contact while the engine is running so it must be enough. It is perfectly centered on the Aero cutout.

Since the 5-speed runs at a fairly high RPM while out on the open interstate highway (~4K at 80 mph) the cabin noise can become somewhat intrusive at these speeds over a long, 10-hour driving day. Most of my motoring is on local roads and on highways at less than 65 mph so it hasn't been much of an issue for me. I actually ended up lining the boot, under the back seat, and rear footwells with thermal-acoustic auto insulation and this seems to have taken the edge off the highway noise and made it quite acceptable.
