The CG-Lock gives you about 80% of the holding power of a full race harness.
Why do people use a harness?
You don't need to "hang on" when driving hard...you can keep your feet light on the pedals and your hands light on the wheel for better driving control, faster reactions, and less fatigue.
You are "one with the vehicle"...you can sense the vehicle movement better, react sooner, and "feel" your way through the tricky spots more easily.
Your safety is increased.
Unfortunately, most of us do our autocrossing in our daily drivers with standard three-point automotive seat belts, not racing harnesses. Once the CG-Lock is installed, you pull up on the shoulder harness of your seatblet, and the lap belt portion gets "racing harness tight" and stays as tight as you want until you release it!

Your hips are your body's center of gravity. Tightly help hips provide the first two of the three benefits of a full harness as described above. As for the 3rd benefit-increased safety- the CG-Lock is not sold as a safety device, but it has been designed and fully tested to not interfere with a seat belt's safety.

Kinda weird when retracting the seat belt
It really is nice...ive gotten to use it for a day so far, but now i dont think I'll drive without it on...i tried with it off halfway through the day and i couldnt believe how much you get moved around in the seat even in relaxed driving
This really holds you in you seat, gives you an even better feel for the car, and really keeps you light on you feet for good precision and great for heel and toe

Has produced a bit of fraying on the belt webbing
I love the way it feels to be held back into the seat and keeps me from sliding around when cornering. I feel connected to the my MINI.
I was amazed at how slouched my previous driving position was. The CG Lock placed me more upright and I moved the seat closer to the wheel and pedals. This allowed me to follow some driving instructions I read in MC2 magazine where your arms extended should drape the top of the wheel at the wrists. Before I couldn't do it because if I moved my seat to that position my legs became cramped, but now being more upright my legs straightened out a bit and things felt RIGHT.
The long-term wear on the belt is the only thing I'm watching, but I love what this product does.
