Description: There quite a lot of reasons to keep the stock exhaust system. It performs well, sounds pretty good for a stock system and replacing it will cost around $700. One option is to just switch the tips out to these larger round tips to fill out the rear valance a bit. The stock tips looks a bit enemic and don't quite scream "power", in fact the way the stock tips look like the bottom of a beer can is because when one of the orginal clay models was being presented after a couple of very long days at BMW the head model maker realized that the car did not have a muffler so in a slightly drunk fashion grabbed one of the beer cans that were sitting in the studio and cut the back off and stuck it in the clay. The shape stayed into production, but that does note mean you need to keep it on YOUR car. Tips come as a set of two and install in about 5 minutes with an allen key. Just reach under the tip and look for the little hole and undo the allen bolt and slide the tip off and replace with these.

Pros: cheaper than a new exhaust system - OEM part - easy to install
Cons: slightly pricey

Put my OEM chrome tips on today at lunch... took about 10 mins, 3mm allen wrench and used some blue locktite.... the insides come in a like a brushed metal texture, but I am sure it would be easy to spray paint that to any color, like black or your car color.

Didn't use the bracket that came with it... that thing is pretty much useless... I read where it is suppose to be used for tip aligment. I just took off the old tips, loosen up the new screws a bit, put a few drop of the blue loctite on the upper threads, shoved the tips on the exhaust pipe and allen wrenched then down as hard as I could.

I read somewhere that loctite start curing as fast as 1 hour to 24 hours max, depending on weather conditions... There is a few posts on NAM about the tips getting loose... the screw mechanism is the same as the stock tips, but for extra protection, some loctite is smart...

I will check them out over the next few days to make sure they are all good.. wish I had a tac welder...

I bought these because I one-balled the stock exhaust and don't really like the stock tips..but I didn't want to spend 500+ on a new exhaust and deal with the price of shipping it to me out here in Hawaii....

Pros: Cheaper than an exhaust system, easy install, awesome tone!
Cons: a little expensive, the tips stick out a little far for my liking

Well I couldn't afford to drop nearly a grand on the exhaust system I knew that I would buy when i could afford it (Milltek), but I really was getting tired of the beer-can exhaust tips. So I bought these, installed them in maybe 5 minutes, never had a rattling problem.

THESE TIPS ACTUALLY MADE THE EXHAUST NOTE LOUDER AND DEEPER
A friend of mine actually pointed it out and I was shocked when I stood back and listened to it. I love the stock exhaust note from Mini and this makes it even better. Only slightly louder and deeper.

How you ask? I'm no acoustician but my guess is that the increase in sound is the concave shape of tip. This concave shape can also be seen in the Magnaflow exhaust system, which, as we all know, has a very deep, very loud sound. Now these tips don't make your exhaust system a magnaflow by any means but they do provide a little something else to the exhaust note.

Awesome

Cons:

i just ordered mine today and can't wait to install them and listen to the noise. i like the stock sound and might paint the silver inside black, depending on how the silver looks. i will rate these when i test them out, but i think it will be high marks.
