Description: The M7 strut tower brace is finally here.

Sporting hard anodized aluminum with a titanium color, our strut tower brace is complete with a profile that will clear the stock airbox & ECU, leaving you with a modification-free installation.

The strut tower plate is 13mm thick to add extra strength to the strut tower. The strut tower brace's modular design will allow easy access to oil filter or any other accessories that might normally be blocked.

Please note: Currently the M7 Strut Tower Brace is for the Cooper S only.

Pros: very tight steering...
Cons: you have to cut out part of the insulation of the bonnet

I just installed the M7 strut brace and it only took about 3/4 of an hour. The most time was spent cutting the insulation out of the bonnet and then recoloring the cut out insulation.
I had heard the bonnet gets pressed up with the brace. This is not what I wanted so I waxed the brace and then shut the bonnet to mark the outline. Then I took a razor knife and cut the insulation out around the mark.
This left a white cutout that looked terrible so I got some black shoe polish and stained the remaining insulation to match.
Now the bonnet shuts perfectly and once opened you can hardly tell i had to mod the car at all to get the brace to fit.

Pros: none
Cons: does nothing

Even though the vendor knows about fitment issues, they refuse to mention it until after you pay them the money. Than they nonchalantly tell you to cut a piece of your car out. Something that would be nice to know prior to the purchase. Deceptive and underhanded.

Pros: Protection of the Strut tower and tighter front end
Cons: Lost hood insulation

Good mod and will help prevent the mushrooming you see after a hard hit. Wish you did not have to lose some insulation to get the hood to have no swell.

Pros: looks nice when new
Cons: looks horrible due to the hoodliner leaving deposits

The M7 STB....one of the best products M7 makes. It bulges your hood. It looks nice until the hoodliner leaves water deposits on it. It claims to protect the strut tops from mushrooming - mine when on the day the car came home yet when I removed it to sell, I had a slightly bulged shock mount.

Pros: A+ Quality, Fitment and Function
Cons: No Neg Aspects

I have used STB's in all my sport hatch cars since my first brand new 83' VW GTi. The M7 is an excellent quality unit and has factory look, fit and finish. Cornering is somewhat tighter on off/on ramps, and I now have the added protection from Strut Tower Mushrooming. A 2-fer.
When I installed it, I did the soak and slam method. Follow Install Instructions which say NOT to cut anything. After the engine heats up, preferably on hot day, Soak the heck out of thebonnet liner area with distilled water, cover the STB with some thick plastic covering, and close the hood, leave it overnight. Eventually the bonnet liner will shape itself to the STB......Not sure why ANYONE is cutting anything. I would remove the liner before ever cutting it......????

Pros: It's very pretty
Cons: bulges hood, takes surface marks easily

Typical overpriced pseudo-functional M7 bling.

Pros: It works, and anitmushrooming
Cons: People bashing M7

I installed this along with the M7 RCB. It's a great piece of hardware for your car. I have an r56 so there was no cutting the lining on the bonnet. Really easy to install it took me about 20 minutes and that's because I took my time. Even if you just get it to dress up you engine it could be worth it. It does tighten up the front end plenty when taking turns really tight.

Pros: Looks great, solid construction, protects from mushrooming
Cons: cost and availability

I purchased my M7 STB from a NAMer on the NAM Marketplace after I was unable to find a brand new unit. Installation was easy, no cutting of the hood liner was necessary, I followed the instructions from the M7 Website.

I haven't really noticed a difference in handling, however I primarily bought the M7 STB over others to protect from mushrooming of the strut towers.
