Description: The RK3 shift knob for Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S is a Euro-design knob with design elements specially tailored for the Mini. 100% T-304 stainless steel provides additional mass to smooth shifting feel. Machined finish is comfortable to the touch and will not wear or scratch in normal use. Choose 5-speed for Mini Cooper, or 6-speed for Mini Cooper S.

Pros: Added weight of knob makes shifting feel smoother.
Cons: None

I bought my UUC Motorwerks RK3 shift knob from UUC in June of 2005, but had to wait until my MC arrived to install it. Installation was pretty easy. I just put the car in neutral and pulled straight up to remove the knob. It took a few tugs, but came off fairly easily. The RK3 knob has a small 2.5 mm set screw to hold it on.

I drove my MC about 200 miles with the stock shift knob before switching to the RK3 so I could make a valid comparison. The addition of the RK3 knob definitely made an improvement. The shifting action feels more solid and crisp than before. The RK3 didn\'t seem to drop the height significantly, so it might be advisable to combine it with a short-shift kit.

The only question on my mind is reliability. I had a slightly larger/heavier BMW RK2 on my previous car for about five years with no problems at all. I\'m hoping for similar reliability with the Mini.

Regards,

Joe Gonzalez
