Description:

This is the DICE I-BMW-T adapter for 1st Gen MINIs. It has the behind-the-radio cable rather than the boot interface and works with the standard stereo. It was pulled from my 06 MCS before I traded it in. Works great, displaying track name, artist and album on the head unit. I believe that feature works on any 05+ Gen 1 HU.
Installation is simple, only 4 torx screws (on the downtubes) and 4 philips screws on the HU. Pull out the head unit, remove the harness cable and plug it into the DICE unit. Plug the DICE cable into the HU and stash the small interface box in the cavity. Fish the iPod cable out to your desired location (under the center stack works very well) and reinstall the HU and downtube screws. The DICE will now be available in the CD changer position on the HU menus. You can change song, album and playlist from the HU. If you have any ipod other than the latest nano or any generation of touch/iphone you can also select tracks directly from the ipod.

no, I don't think it will charge the 3g without an adapter because of the change Apple made.
