History
"Cooper" was a matter of timing and fate. My wife and I had decided we wanted a Mini Convertible. We went to a dealer who had one advertised. We drove it, fell in love with it, but it was a stick and we had to have an automatic (bad knees for me, arthritis for her). On a whim, we went to the Mini dealership. Told our sales rep we were in the market for a used Mini convertible. Didn't want to pay new car price, wanted low miles and had to be an '07 or newer (had read about the CVT trannys). He sent us out in a Mini with a moonroof just to see how we liked the car. We both loved it, returned and said if it was a convertible, we'd start negotiating right then. He didn't have any used convertibles in stock, but asked us to wait for a few minutes. He came back and advised us that he was getting a 2007 Mini S Convertible in three days, coming in on a trade.
The original owner, a 75 year old gentleman who used the Mini as his weekend car, had the car in for service in May, 2012. Installed new tires, new tie rods and maintenance. Two months later, Mini introduced the new Coupe and Roadster. He came in, ordered a Roadster and was due to pick it up in a few days.
Our salesman called two days later to say the car was in if we wanted to come drive it. We did and the rest is history. A very happy history, to say the least.

Under the Hood
K & N Cold Air Intake/Custom built performance exhaust using Magnaflow Tips and Mufflers. (Was about to order a Miltek Exhaust and my mechanic said "why spend $900 for a box of pipes and clamps and another $130 for me to install? I'll build you a custom exhaust I guarantee you'll love for around $350 or so." If any of you are thinking about a sports exhaust, check with local mechanics first. I should note that this particular mechanic also does frame off restorations and races on weekends.
