In about a month and a half ill have the funds necessary to put out about 17.5-18 grand on an MCS. I figured that by the time taxes and registration are all done, ill have spent about a grand (correct me if thats a bad assumption!). So, with about 17 grand left, what do you guys think i should be able to get! im looking for a manual mcs. thanks
I would say you could get a pretty decent 02-04 MCS with a slightly above average amount of mileage or possibly an 05 with "higher" mileage, but that's just a guess. I would definitely stay away from dealers though. I recently saw 2 06 MCS's on a local used lot for 27 and 28k. Both were not JCW or Sport package cars so apparently the dealer was just shooting for the moon since we are 4.5 hours from a dealer. Check our NAM's marketplace to get a feel for what people are asking for.

I agree with AeroJammin about staying away from dealers. The gas situation has the MINI in high demand and the dealers know it. Check out the NAM Marketplace, but check out the other online used car sites that list private sellers as well. I think for $17K you can get something you can definitely be happy with.
FWIW...I paid $18.5 plus tax in Nov. 2007 for my 04 MCS with 23K miles from a dealer. They had it on sale from $24K to $21K. I offered them $20K out the door...they accepted. Equipped with: Premium, Sport, Convenience packages, S-Lites, no evidence or record of prior paintwork/accidents.

You made a good deal.

pickes up a 2005 MCS with only 7k miles that had sport, premium and cold packages. Absolutely spotless. Bought long distance sigh unseen from a BMW dealer in Chicago. I asked one of the NAM'er check it ou for me. Asking price was 24k bought for 20k.
