I have been scouring the internet for a mini for a couple of weeks for an MCS.
I have seen prices from 16,000 to like $24k.
My requirements list is pretty short:
2004 or newer (ideally 2005 or newer)
sunroofs
> 35k
auto.
color unimportant, yellow least desirable, black most.
mfsc would be really great
I am sure that the auto requirement limits the overall availability some.
Also, the $16k one above was pristine, but manual or I wouldn't be posting this.
Can you guys provide me some sort of range for this.
Also, seems like prices are (from lowest to highest)
craigslist
NAM
private car location svc (like auction price + $1,000)
ebay
cars.com/vehix/autotrader
I am near Philly and don't mind driving 200 miles or so.
I just purchased a 2007 Mini automatic from a BMW dealership about three weeks ago. The car has 1400 miles on it. Automatics seem to be hard to find and the demand for Mini's has skyrocketed in the last month. If you want a MCS-expect to pay $19k to 23K for 2006 with less than 35k miles, and not very much difference in sticker for 2008 for what is being charged for the 2007 models with less than 10k miles.
Resale dealers have a very high price on these cars because they are aware of the demand and are most likely sitting on a dozen Yukon and Escalades in the lot that they can't even give away. They need to make a couple grand on the sale of these minis.
If you aren't ordering a mini from the dealer, it's a crazy time to buy a used one.
so, what's your recommendation just wait and buy new? What did you pay for your MCS, if you don't mind me asking?
I have been speaking to the owner of this, and she has sent a ton of pics. Other than some paint chips, it seems to be in really good shape - every possible options, incl full leather, backup sensors, badass instrument gauge, chrome - she got everything other than nav.
Only issue is that although it is a 2006, it has 41,500 on it (but still under warranty, obviously).
she is asking $20k - as you mention, I have seen 2005s with like 23k going for 20 grand.
what is a good price for this - if I could get it for 18 or 19?
If you can pay $18 or $19 for it, then I think that is a good deal based on what I just went through in the Washington DC area.
I paid $21k for my MC, but about 3 days after I arrived home I got a call from the dealer. The salesman said the phone has been ringing off the hook for that car and I got a hell of a deal. There is a 2007 mini with 9k miles for sale at a dealership called Pohanka. It has been for sale since I was looking. They have raised the price of that car four times in the last month.
I test drove this MCS car: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ice=&cardist=4
Very nice car located in dowtown DC. It has many Florida highway miles on it and it's probably listed for just a little high price. I decided I didn't need a MCS, was happy with a MC.
If you go to DC craigslist, someone is trying to unload an 08 lease. Also someone else in Baltimore is trying to unload a lease.
Lastly, you really can't go wrong once you purchase it, the resale value is very high.
It is impossible to just buy an MCS. The price new can range up to $45,000+ due to the options available. I have a 2007 with over $40,000 invested in it. JCW intercooler, clear LED tailights, lots of chrome, XM, iPod, Navigation, backup camera, Avic N3 video, dual subs, new speakers, extra tires/wheels, sport stuff, special wheels, etc etc. With only 5,000 miles on it the price would be over $30,000. You can buy a stripped down one new for much less. Buyer beware! Best to get info on cost from seller and if price is important avoid all the extras.
