I gotta say .. I'm surprised with all the irratation you guys are having with the install ... <shrug>
Other than having to flip the midpipe, to fix the orientation, mine went on painlessly and fairly flawlessly (see my review above).
Further, other than the "tuba" noise (love this analogy by the way) at 3-4k, I'm quite happy with mine. My only real complaint is the 3-4k noise ... and I want my titanium tips and the non-resonator midpipe given I paid the extra for the whole resonator pipe (not just the pipe).

If you are having any install issues please CALL us. There are simple mistakes being made upon install that literally takes us 2 minutes to explain to your installer, and it is fixed. 714-850-0139.
Shane PM sent my outgoing mail is down for some reason. Thank you!
Holy Crap!! I haven't even installed my exhaust yet, but I may not even do so. This is such a slap in the face. I clearly told RR I didn't want a crazy loud exhaust when I ordered it a few months back. Anthony had assured me that it is fairly quiet with the resonator. This is bad!!
Also, last night I tried to lay out the Oil Catch Can to install it and the bracket does not match up to the one hole. Very bad. And this is after Daniel had told me that they were waiting on the bracket to come back from the manufacturer due to some last minute modifications.
Well, I'm waiting to hear from Riss Racing. I will cancel the remaining parts that still need to be shipped out to me, and most likely, I will return everthing...
What a waste of time!!!

I have at catless pipe. That's going to make it a lot louder. I *THINK* most of the folks responding also have catless DPs.
I speculate (given the way mine sounds now) that if you have a catted DP, the volume is significant lower. My vote is you install it and report back to us. On a selfish level, I'm curious in case I choose to switch to a catted DP to eliminate the 3-4k "tuba".
I really do love the way it sounds though; it reminds me of all the modded Bimmers I seem to attract around my mini (and I've always been a fan of the "sophisticated" sounding exhausts).

Thank you for your comments. Just want to make sure we're here to help with any issues you guys have with installation of your Riss Racing products. We've had about 3 calls in regards to the pipe orientation and all issues were diffused in just a few minutes. There are over 50 systems out worldwide currently with many more orders going out. Remember guys, we're in this for the long haul. We hope to be in this community for a very long time to help with new and exciting performance parts for your Mini. Thank you guys for your support and please let us know if you need our help.

Hi Asaulo,
We are happy to say the RR Exhaust will not throw any CEL/error codes. Since the primary cats are not touched, you won't have any issues running the exhaust system on the car. Please let us know if you need anymore information!
I hope the riss boys read every post and answers each members question in this thread and not
just the post of people who have not purchased yet.
M3 are you showing the car at sema with the riss exhaust? did riss make a special unit for you ?I hope I am able to show my car with the riss exhaust at the performance convention in Orlando later this year.

I have a oem catted downpipe on my jcw and it has horrible booming between 3-4k.I think the tubing may be too thin and contributes to the booming noise. The system booming reminds me of my 440 super bee when i had cheap blackjack headers and aluminized pipes running cherry bomb mufflers .

You sent me a PM and it was responded too SAME DAY within 4 hours. I don't think you want us responding with your personal information/situation on a public forum?
If you are running a fully catless system. Expect the system to be louder. There is no way to quite down a straight through exhaust system for maximum performance except for with a resonator. As you can see we have added a very oversized resonator. The bulk of the noise comes from a catless downpipe. If you run catted it will be much quieter however this is going to hinder performance. Overall sound of the exhaust with catless is outstanding. We have had tons of positive feedback minus a couple guys on here who think its a little too loud. We shipped over 100 systems and since people usually only post when they have a complaint I am very happy with the results! With all that said to expect to satisfy everybody across the board on what sounds good too you personally is 100% impossible.
What I can do I can do is work with you on getting the system exactly how you want it. One customer wanted to swap out his catless dp for catted dp. Another customer wanted to swap his catted dp for catless dp since the exhaust wasn't loud enough for him. One person wants to run a catless section the other a resonator section. We then have a customer who is perfectly happy with the catless exhaust. Until he reads a review then changes his mind and wants to switch to a resonator section. We have worked with everybody and will continue to do so. We are here for the community and always will be. If you need assistance please contact us and we are here to help. Thank you!

Ha, you're not the only one. The muscles in my forearms were on fire after trying to shove the flange from the exhaust into the downpipe! NOT COOL! I'm having serious doubts that the OEM v-band clamp can hold that stuff together and have a good seal. They really needed to include a better v-band specifically for this application.
That's terrible that you had to weld it. Thinking about that makes me grind my teeth
I know... I would rather not... I actually took it to the shop had someone installed it... they had 2 ppl shove the flange from the exhaust and another one trying to tie the v-band clamp... After all is said and done, we did a test drive and notice the air leaking out (since Denver was really cold that day so you can easily spot the leak) from the very same spot (by the flange). We gave up and weld it to the downpipe...
Now I am taking it back to the shop next week to unweld it to take it down... the sound drives me crazy... sounds like I am driving a souped up Civic.

Its just tuff fit doing it on your back on jack stands. You need to install that pipe first and install each section one at a time working your way back to the muffler.
By doing it this way everything fits much better and is much easier
