Anthony,

What have been your long term results with CELs tripping with the catted downpipes?

So far we have had 6 reported CEL issues with the catted downpipe now 7 one of them being M3 This. There could be more since not everybody contacts us with it since we were clear it is possible to still throw a CEL with catted DP. I don't have the exact number of catted DP's we have sent out but I know its well over 60. There is no guarantee, and we were very clear on that from our experience with BMW. But most of the time it won't throw a CEL. The only codes reported are the usual suspects like P0420 etc... which is an easy fix with our 02 SIM

I said in the exhaust thread I'm almost positive yours shipped. If it was catless coated it shipped. I will check as soon as I get in the office. Thank you!

There are 2 other catted coated that will be going out either tomorrow or Friday depending on what time I get them back from the coaters. Thanks guys!

CEL

Adam/Anthony,
Thanks for the info yesterday, I appreciate it and I'll give a call on Friday if I haven't heard anything from you re: shipping on the coated/catted DP.

Althought Virginia isn't as invasive as other states for their emissions checks, they do connect the car to a OBDII scanner to look at any codes that might be coming up. In the event (seems to be unlikely but I like to plan for the worst while hoping for the best), I do get CEL's with the DP installed, what's the process for taking you up on the "fix"? I've got a smog test coming up in January and I'd really like to install the DP about 2 minutes after it arrives but I don't want to take a chance on failing the code scan.

Thanks,
Craig

Why don't you just use the OEM downpipe for the smog test and then right after plop the RR downpipe on?

Countryboyshane,
Well, that's probably the option that I'll take for this year - go get it done next week when I'm back off the road. Then I'll have to worry about the next time it's due. Haven't seen or heard much from anyone with the DP on the difficulty level for the install and that'll be a part of the deciding factor.

The hardest part of the downpipe install is the lower heatshield. If you have hulk hogan forearms you're not going to be able to do the install. Other than that, it's very confined and you have to be patient.

PM'ed Riss have not heard anything yet. At this point I just want a refund, I don't want to put the Catted DP on then get a CEL and hope that in another 5-6 months they will send me the FREE 02 SIM promised if I get a CEL. It looks like they are making some great products it just seems things are just taking a while and now that they have had my money for 4 months now.

RR DP Order

Frustration is starting to settle in. When ordered on 13 October, the comment (via email) was that the order would ship "in a few weeks". After a couple of weeks, it was still "next week". Then problems with the coating. Two weeks ago it was "We are picking up two catted/coated today and one of them will ship to you"... Last week it was "Let me get your number and I'll call you back". After no call, I emailed and got a reply "Next week". This past Tuesday, it was "Let me check with Adam/Anthony and I'll call you back"... No call. On Thursday it was "Sorry I didn't call you, we are getting DP's back today and it should ship on Friday". I'm hoping to get a shipping number today.

How many others are still waiting for shipment of catted/coated DP's? I'm just wondering how many are still ahead of me and waiting.

Yup that's it. A dedicated O2 sensor socket works best to handle the wire coming off the sensor. You might need to use a cheater bar the first time unscrewing the sensors from the downpipe. They are tight!

cmcveay, i ordered in July dude. I'm pretty sure mine is on its way now though. I've got a shipping number and its showing up on the usps website.

I dont know why honesty can't be used here...I just ordered the exhaust last week and they told me "its ready to be shipped now, just waiting to take it to the post office" That was on Tuesday i believe, it still isn't showing up on the website. I probably should have just ordered an exhaust from a different company given RR's track record.

I believe you are an international order correct? I already shipped your exhaust out early this week as promised. We also shipped out your downpipe. USPS doesn't update their website like Fed Ex or UPS does. Thanks, and let us know if you need help with anything else.

We suggest using the proper 02 sensor removing tool. This will ensure you do not stip it. These 02 sensors cost over $200. Also it is tight use a breaker bar if needed. When reinstalling use anti seize. If you need help contact us anytime techsupport@rissracing.com or call 714-850-0139. Thank you
