LI Oddities Photo tour Too (2) April 30 2006

sorry for being late on here... but better late then never

Ok...
lets give a list of info here:
the time we will start will be 9 AM!!!
the Place.. Manhasset Valley Park on Northern Blvd and Maple Ave (entrance on Maple)
if we are lucky.. there will one odditie already there... a 1977 AMC Pacer (parked next to a 63 Mustang.. same owner)
the will be a BYOB Bring Your Own Breakfast
Also.. try to get to facilities BEFORE we go.. since we really wont have any along the way until we get to the Lunch stop

1: 1st place will be a drive under the LIRR High Trestle

then we will park in the King Kullen shopping center on 25a and Shelter Rock Road and walk to:

the a drive down IU Willits Rd to Willis Ave to the Albertson/Williston Park border.. for
3: the Long Island Motor Parkway remnent

back north thru the Village of Roslyn..(one of LI's prettiest villages) over to
4: the Nassau Museum of Art aka Child Frick Mansion aka William Cullent Bryant Preserve
(this will require a $2 fee.. sorry.. I couldnt get that waived)

then a nice drive down rt 25a.. past CW post.. and into Brookville and Muttontown to
5: the King Zog ruins (we did this last year)

then off to Bethpage and a remnent from AT Stewart

then LUNCH AT AIRPORT PLAZA

after lunch.. we will drive... so far... (right next to the plaza....)
7: The Republic /Fairchild Factories remnents where some of the best aircraft were built like the A10 (there's one at the Cradle of Aviation Museum now!!!)

then turning south on Wellwood Ave.. we will come to Wellwood Cemetery. I have gotten the ok to visit.. but being a jewish cemetery.. tradition requires NO PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE CEMETERY

Trust me... I too have seen photos on the web of the gravesite.. and most of you know I am heavily into photography... nevertheless... no photos will be allowed in the cemetery..
if you try to take one.. dont bother sticking with us nor joining us later for the rest of the day or dinner.. you are out!!! sorry.. but I must respect the wishes of the Cemetery. we are allowed guest and visitors

ok.. off that and onto the rest... which will use the Southern State Parkway afterwards.. which we will take to Oakdale and West Sayville for the rest of our spots

9: The Bluepoints Company aka the BluePoint Oyster Company for all you Bivalve lovers.. this is where it all came from.... (until the Great Hurricane of 1938)
