Nice sunny weekend in NY coming up!

Hello everyone:
I woud like to go with my girl somewhere for the weekend and just drive the car around. I live in Downtown Manhattan and barely use the car (its been 2.5 weeks with the car in the garage with the cover on and super clean).
We usually drive up to Beacon and visit the DIA Center but would like to try a different place.
Any suggestions within 150 miles from here would be great! Hamptons perhaps???
Thanks.
I am dying to take the Mini for a stroll around town

Why not take a ride up the Taconic Parkway up to Bear Mountain and either stay in a cabin for the night or just come back home the same night. Not really much to do and see there, but the parkway itself is a pretty nifty ride... There are plenty of twisties up in them thar hills...

Head East young Man. Once out in the Hamptons start taking back roads and just follow your nose. Many many beautiful and secluded spots out there with some great twisty road. Check Sag Harbor, Shelter Island (nice B&Bs) Acabonic, Cedar Point Park and a lot more. Do not stop until you get to The End and circle past the Light House - you may want to check out Camp Hero while you are there. Lots of nice but pricey resteraunts along the way. Check Google earth and other maps. Much of the Summer traffic is gone (not all, though).

Have fun.

I second the Merritt for a nice drive. Beautiful tree lined broad sweeping high speed turns. It moves at a good clip. From the city its Henry Hudson to the Saw Mill Parkway to the Cross County Parkway to the Cross County Parkway to the Hutchinson River Parkway which turns into the Merritt. Hook up with 91 to head to Hartford/ Boston.

For another destination head to Mohonk Mountain House in the Catskills, about 100 miles north of NYC. It's a giant old school Victorian mountain lodge. Pack a picnic lunch to eat when you get there, or make reservations ahead of time for lunch or dinner in the huge lodge-like dining room. Unless you stay overnight, the dining room is your ONLY option on site for food, and they are often booked up so you'll need to call ahead. I think they also have a dress code...so you'd want to double check to be sure. I've heard good and bad things about the food, but can't confirm either way as I've never actually eaten there. Mohonk is not about the food though...the scenery is UNBELIEVABLE. A crystal clear mountain lake stocked with huge trout, great hiking trails and gardens, and a very fun 2 lane winding access road up the mountain with lots of twisties. They even have a topiary maze (makes me think of the Shining). You don't have to be an overnight guest to enjoy the grounds.
