Fun Northern California Run

Fo a lack of anything better to do, and the fact that it was a grey, foggy, drizzly kind of day, we decided to take Gromit for a road trip. We started in Manteca, but the fun didn't happen until Mill Valley...

A section of Hwy-1 was closed from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach, so we detoured over Panoramic Hwy, north of Mt. Tam and Muir Woods. Excellent drive that. Especially through what amounted to cloud!

Just had a wonderful time with very few cars on the road (it really does pay to be insane sometimes). We stopped at Goat Rock State Beach to stroll a nearly deserted beach. Grey weather but not raining. Lots of seals to see. Had a late lunch in Guerneville, and on to Hwy-116 back to US-101.

If you live in Northern CA, you'll love this loop if the traffic is not too bad.

I dont know the road by name but i used to frequently travel from Napa to Stinson Beach. I used to do some pretty crazy (irresponsible and dangerous) driving on the very curvy 1 lane each way road on the cliff. I used to think how fun that would be on a motorcycle, now i think how fun it would be in a mini!
I think you are referring to the same road....

I think i am mistaken. It looks like i am thinking of the closed section.....

A good run. I am truly blessed to be living in Sonoma County. There are more great MINI roads around here than you can ever travel. You hit on some good ones

Oh hell yeah!!! Did this drive last week and LOVED IT!!! A little different though coming from Sacramento. Have you ever stopped at Tony's in Tomales Bay for oysters? Great food! Only open on weekends and cash only. A great place to stop and take a break before venturing on.
