I was looking for something interesting to do during my vacation, I wasn't planning to go out of town, more of a kick back and relax vacation. And thats what I did. Until today when I decided I wanted some beef jerky. I remembered seeing this sign out on Hwy 395.
and I remembered reading something about that place here on NAM, it seemed to be some good jerky.
So I found the address, put it into the GPS, gassed up Luna, picked up a Monster and a Red Bull, just incase, and took off for Olancha.
Took the 91 to the 15 to 395, I reality it's kind of a boring drive, pretty straight and patrolled by airplane so you gotta keep the speed down.
Here's a few pics from the drive.
Straight on for miles, but a nice drive none the less.
Even more straight roads in every direction you look.
And here it is the reason I left the house this morning.
And you get to see some neat old buildings along the way.
Sorry there are no pictures with Luna in them but I was by myself and have a hard time making myself stop and setup pictures, so most of my pictures come from the drivers seat as i pass by neat stuff.
It was a 400 mile roundtrip. And a completely crazy thing to do, but it was a neat adventure.
Oh and yes the jerky is really good. i'm working on some right now. I will definitely be stopping by again the next time I am near Gus' Really Good Fresh Jerky.
Damn, let me know when you do stuff like that. I could have met you there. I work just a few miles from that place. But, I have still yet to stop in there
Damn that must be some fine jerky! Hey, but any reason to motor right

Sorry Nik, I didn't know you wanted to come along, but actually it was kind of a spontaneous thing and I didn't tell anybody where I was going. you should stop be there sometime, the jerky is quite good.
Minimeto - Actually I'd never had the jerky before, but I read about I here and I was looking for an excuse to motor a little further from home.
My daughter (hannawho on this forum) took a long hike over Christmas, from Philly all the way up to New Hampshire, to snowboard, She had some awesome pix of snow on the mountains...not sure if she has any of 8Ball (her 2K4 MC), but will email her to see.
So, that's a good 8 hour drive, maybe 450-500 miles each way.....

you mean these? Skratch had fun taking the corners in the mountains for sure !!
I think I saw that on my way to Mammoth with some friends... next time I'll have to stop by... how was the jerky?
Nooo Audio~ Don't tell us! Anyone wanting to know how the jerky was MUST become MINI (or Mini) pilgrims on a quest! Go yourself, taste, but never tell!

I spent three years at Edwards AFB driving roads like these (surprise, eh?). Had an 82 Mazda RX-7. Gutless little car, but so smooth and quiet you'd find yourself doing 90 on those roads without realizing it.
The hills in your pix have some great winding roads in them and some really small towns that no one who doesn't live there even know about.
