Yes it's true! Sort of! I just recently purchased my Mini, it was orignally for sale in my home town of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. After a couple of visits with and without my family ,being that it was unique even in Mini world I fell in love and knew there was no other car for me. The only problem with it I could find was the slave cylinder on the clutch was squishy. Here's a pic in the showroom in Vancouver:
Unfortunately or so I thought at the time my wife forbid me to buy it until our other car was sold. The price of the Mini kept coming down and down, but I couldn't sell my car, sure enough a guy spotted the Mini ad in another Province 1,200 miles away, he decided to fly out here and buy it and drive it back, needless to say I was crushed. Low an behold 1 month later I see it up for sale again! I call the guy and he's actually in a BMW/Mini dealer in Regina, Saskatchewan signing papers trading it in on a 2005 Acura RSX type-S, he said the Mini was too small, not fast enough, blah, blah, blah. So a couple of days later I call the dealer explaining I know the car etc, they say they've installed a new clutch, and it's so clean they are offering a two extended warranty and the price was $3,000 less than what it sold for here! They said they would hold it for me till I could get out there, so I re advertized my Maxima and within 24hrs I had sold it for asking price ( heavily modded car):
I flew out two days later with my father for company made the deal and headed out on the 1,200 mile return journey, on my way out I said to the Sales guy " I'm just going to take it for a test drive to show the wife"
We drove for 8 hours on virtually straight hwy through the Prairies,:
Halfway home 600miles:
Then through the Rockies ( mountains) lots of great twists and turns:
17 hours "test drive " time we were finally home , not a single drop rain averaged 75MPH, had a great test drive, good thing the wife and kids liked it! Because I wasn't taking it back!!!

Great story, that's definitely the way to start a relationship. I picked mine up last Wednesday and had about 3 hours on the way home. I think that's a great way to get to know your new baby.
