A weekend trip to Mammoth Mountain, Ca. was so enjoyable, I can't wait to go back up. While the roads getting out of L.A. are the crumiest and no fun to be on, the roads outside of L.A. county are some of the smoothest to travel and are almost straight (not much fun). Up in the mountains, tho, roads are twisty and alot of fun to drive. It seems this time of year drives in the mountains are only half as fun as they could be due to the heavy amounts of snow still around. The drives tend to wind up at about the 8000
ft. level and the roads become unplowed snow fields. No way for a Mini to
progress beyond. Just enough lake open below that level to make fishing via
the Mini Cooper S more fun than I had imagined. We fished in float tubes (see picture of float tube bungied to the top of the Mini) on Crowley Lake and Convict Lake. Please enjoy the picture attached. By the way we only
caught a few small fish and released them all.
