Vancouver to Vegas - advice wanted

My wife and I are thinking of taking our Clubbie for a two week drive to Vegas and back in Summer. The plan is to go in country down through Washington, through Idaho and to Yellowstone. From here we want to head down to Vegas and then check out the Grand Canyon before moving towards Yosemite and then up to Portland and home.

What I'd like to know is good things to see and do on the way. We're going to take two weeks to do the trip so we don't have to spend full days on the road.

if anyone's got any tips I'd appreciate it. Also; good place to stay? Places to avoid?

thanks

adge

I can't speak for Idaho and Nevada, but through Oregon and Washington, if you haven't already done it, try the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway. It'll probably add a day (or more, seeing as you're heading through Idaho, and when I did it we were en route to California) to your travel time but it is worth considering if you're not planning another US trip soon. And much more interesting than driving the I-5. You can always hit Portland on the way up for tax-free goodness.
