Just got back from Washington D.C, and enjoyed many nice roads along the way. Of course we did the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway, but they have some rigid speed limits and enforcement now. If you want an incredible twisty that's not quite the Dragon, but has a 55 limit, try VA 58 from Independence, VA to about Damascus. I'm sure there are some other neat roads in that area, but 58 was one that was so twisty I even got a bit car sick! Absolutely no traffic on a Tuesday.
Oh, and if you need a motel in the area, try the Grayson Inn and Suites, in Independence. Very quiet and clean, and the manager even gave us a suite because they didn't have a regular room available--same price. (Apologized for the "inconvenience" too!)
Enjoy!

Yeah, I map out fun drives for our local club, and I'd so love to have that "job" if I lived in that area! Actually, any of the hilly roads out that way.
