Has anyone travelled on 281 just North of Clemson, SC?

My wife and I took a drive into the mountains by Clemson, SC. We ended up on Hwy 281 by Wahalla, SC (sp?)

The roads are PHENOMENAL... I've gone to Deal's Gap (Hwy 129) twice a year for about 6-7 years.

Deal's gap is very technical and Cherohola Skyway is much larger, sweeping 120 mph curves (on sportbikes anyways)

Hwy 281/64 in Wahalla, SC is right in between the 2 roads technical wise. It's blast to drive, I couldn't believe how much fun it was.

Anyone live by that way? I say we have to make a trip out of it... it'll definitely be worth it.

Mark

That sounds sweet, but I got all excited because there is a 281 up here in Ohio...It's boring though, just straight as an arrow for 50 odd miles! Nothing but fields and country side...it is one of the routes I take from college to home because it is straight and there are no cops

I moved down from OH, I know what you mean about straight, flat roads... for miles and miles and miles....

The roads down here are phenomenal.... twisty, fast curves that are a BLAST to drive.

Next time you get down this way, look me up, it'll be worth the trip.

That's my back way from the Dragon... You know, when you just gotta have one more twisty road on the way back home to Greer, SC.
On the way to the Dragon I normally take I-26 to I-40 to route 74 to route 28 only because I'm normally in a hurry to get there, but the way back is a totally different story.

Is that the road near Highway 11 that connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway? My girlfriend keeps mentioning a road she wants me to drive on(when I get my MINI next year) that sounds similar to what you're describing.

I think so but after all the twisties, I was so lost, I couldn't tell you where I ended up...lol.

I'll try to look it up and find out exactly where it is (was)
