205/50/17 for ClubmanS on stock wheels and suspension?

Still shopping winter tires. I guess if I keep procrastination much longer I will just miss the whole season and pick this up again next year. Anyway, was looking at 215/45/17's and found 205/50/17's for about 20% less in the same winter tire.

Can I run that 205/50 size on my stock rims on the ClubmanS without trouble besides the speedo error which looks like about 2= MPH faster than stock size tires?

Thanks!

I asked myself the same question back in the fall. But because of lack of time to research, I went with the OEM size of 225/45R17

To be honest, I thing that 225 is too wide a tire for snow. I wish I had researched more before buying.

Yes, 225's are too wide. My stock size is 205/45/17's on the Clubby S so going with 50 series tires on 17 inch is increasing the wheel diameter by about 8/10 th's of an inch i believe. 205/50/16's would be a good fit, but I don't want to buy a second set of wheels & Sensors at this point.

205/50 is a bit tall, but should fit on the newer cars.
