Consensus: Best stock tire replacement for 09 MCS??

Alright, time to replace the stock tires on my MCS. No more of this run-flat nonsense. Here is the criteria:

- I live in N. California, where I'll drive in a bit of rain during the winter months but NO snow. Most of time it's sunny

- Performance, tread life, and versatility are all important and I'm after the best combination of all 3. Performance definitely out-weighs everything.

- I plan to stock with the stock rims. So just a tire replacement is all I'm looking at.

Thanks!

Having been where you are recently, I'll offer my opinion. When I first got rid of the RF's, I kept my stock wheels and I went with a set of 215/55-16 Kumho Ecsta ASX's. In Northern Virginia, I will drive in rain and sub freezing temps and even a little snow. I've since changed to aftermarket wheels in 17" and I stayed with the same make/model tire but bumped it up to a 225. Last month, we did a weekend of runs in the mountains and after a hard night time run with wet roads covered in wet leaves, I came away very, very impressed with the tires. The only time they got a little "loose" was in some very hard braking. Very low road noise and significant improvement in the ride over the factory RF's. And yes, mine did come from the Tire Rack where they have great reviews.
