winter tire size question

hey all... a co-worker has a set of 205/55-16 winter rubber for sale... wondering if anyone has tried this size? They would be going on a Clubman S.

miata.net tells me they are 0.5" taller, is that too much? the speedo would be 1.8% too slow
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

a meatier tire for all the nasty roads in southern ontario would probably be a good thing, i just don't want to end up with rubbing issues...

thanks!

I haven't tried them myself but from what I have read on here they should fit if your car isn't lowered.

Going slightly oversized shouldnt be a problem, it's just a matter of whether or not they fit the wheel well. I am guessing .5in taller that a 205/45/17? If thats the case you wont have problem.
