Can someone confirm.

Okay.. I need a winter wheel tire package for my '09 MCS.

I'm gonna go with some blizzaks, but need to know which wheels I can run. Can the 15' steelies be used or do I need to actually find some 16's being as it's an S? I kinda like the steelie look for winter and am basically trying to be a cheap bastard...

THANKS!

As far as I know a 15" rim won't fit an 09 MCS. That being said I've spent the last week trying to find 16" steel rims to no avail. It seems they just aren't any made that fit our cars. You could look into some cheap alloys or try and find some used oem 16s that fit (there are only 4 types).

Talk to the good people at Tire Rack or go on their web site...lots of answers. 15" wheels won't clear the larger front rotors on the second gen MINI. 16" just clear by a few mm.

Not 100% true. With some minor modification to the lower ball joint &nut, you can get a 15" Enkei RPF1 to fit. I'm not sure if the 15" steelies provide as much clearance.

From the pics in that link (and the date) he was modifying an R53 with smaller brakes. I don't think this would work on an 09 MCS.

My apologies. I should've realized that was for an R53. Going back to the OP's question, I'm sure he could pick up a cheap set of 16s from tirerack with snow tires mounted.

You need at least 16" rims (steelies are fine) for your S model as it has bigger brakes. The non-S car can fit 15" rims.

I just found out that some 15" will fit. If you go to tire rack -> build winter tire and wheel package, they show 2 wheels in 15" that fit, kosei t1 and oz ultraleggeras. They do not show any steelies as being available.

Wow that's awesome. I've been told in person and on here that 15s wont clear R56 brakes. Definitely gives me some options for winter tires/rims now.

Bavarian Auto works has 16" steelies for the Mini. I know because I bought them this September. I was expecting them to be black since all their steelies were, but of course the ones for the MINI were missing their photo. Seeing them everyday in the garage I have gotten used to them and am now just waiting for the temp to drop a little more before I have installed... (I may do it myself, but I haven't had the tires mounted on the wheels yet, probably will have it done this weekend).

They are silver....and now the bad news is that the tpms does NOT fit in these wheels! Of course their customer service is closed so I will have to wait till Monday to try to get it rectified.

I'm kinda pissed since they are there recommended "winter wheel" for the cooper. Seems they would have the tpms fit, or give notice that they don't!

Hey Alex,
Is that 2 air (red) valves on the Kosei K1 TS Can one be sealed and replace with silver or regular black valve?

So, the Enkie 15x7 in either ET41 or ET35 don't fit? With 5mm Spacers?

I love the 16 inch OZ Alleggerita, but not alot of tire selection.
What do the 16x7 OZ Alleggeritas weigh?
