The 205/50R16's are 2.2% smaller than the 215/45R17s -- within my general "2% error" rule of thumb. Tire size calculator.

2.2" sounds like a lot, but from what i'm reading 205/50-16 is the best choice in size for 16".

I have a set of Sumitmo HTR Z III 215/17-45 with 2 miles on them for sale best offer - not sure where to post this since the for sale forum is an archive.

For what it's worth, the factory 16" tire is a 195/55R16. The 205/50R16 is only 1.5% shorter than that. In any case, it's almost impossible to perceive the difference. 2% = 1.1 mph at 55 mph...

Hi Dan,

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a set of RB's. I'm torn between Gunmetal, Silver, and Hyper Black. Is there anyplace I can get a really good idea of the relative colors? I'm afraid the Gunmetal may be darker than I want, and am totally unsure about the Hyper Black.

Thanks!

Well, one thing that'll make your decision easier is that they don't come in Hyper Black, which is a sort of smokey silver color. They do come in black, silver, and gunmetal (all with polished lip), and flat black. I've got all those colors in my showroom. I'll try to take a group picture tomorrow. In the meantime, you can see some pictures here at our web site.

Left to right: Silver with polished lip (under plastic), flat black, gunmetal with polished lip, black w/polished lip.

Black with polished lip, gunmetal with polished lip.

Dan,

Did you mean to say the tire sizes are 2.2% and 1.5" different than stock, rather than 2.2" and 1.5" different? The latter are relatively huge differences, whereas the former are trivial (and, I believe, more likely the correct ones).

I meant percent in all cases. Thanks for allowing me to correct that. Of course, anyone here could and SHOULD click through the TIRE SIZE CALCULATOR I mentioned above and check this for themselves.

spacer question

Hi Dan,

I'm thinking of getting the RB's but notice the website says:

"This wheel will fit over all MINI brakes EXCEPT the 2009+ JCW models. Those will require a 15mm wheel spacers for the front wheels."

Does this mean the 2009 MCS plus the JCW or just the 2009 JCW. Are the 2007 and 2008 MCS different from the 2009??

I have a 09 MCS, would I need spacers??

thanx,

dave

2009+ means "2009 and later." You do not have a JCW model, so they will fit.

Hi!

I've got a question... I'm looking for the Rota MC (Le Mans ) wheels in black/polished

Like this one! Size 18" 8 E45

Problem is, I can't find them in Belgium, neither surrounding countries...
So, Is there any possibility to ship them overseas to Belgium?
Or is anyone willing to help me out? I really want these...

Thanks,

NAM users smetje and jbcola are both Belgians, and they have them! Ask them where they got them.

jbcola's car:

Drooooooooooooooooooooool.

They looks WICKED! Question though: I'm in love with the MC, but 18" is wayyy too big for me. Will there be any other sizes available? Like 16"? I could even live with 17" but 18" is way too big ...

It's unlikely there will ever be 16's. I am trying to get 17" ones made. It'll probably be a while.

Keep me posted. I might just run on the runflats till you release them. Or break and go with 18".

Just afraid it'll totally kill my acceleration ... since I wont have the turbo.

*sigh* Smaller is better! Especially on our Minis! How come nobody shares my opinion on this? (just like with women's chests. ... )
