Painted R93 "Rocket" 15" Wheels (pics)

I picked these up to use for the winter. I'm keeping the stock all seasons mounted until they wear out, or unless I determine I REALLY need snow tires. I figured they'd look good done up in black since that's the look my Mini has going for it now. I won't likely mount them until after Thanksgiving, or whenever the first snowfall is predicted for Chicago, so no pics on the car until then. Duplicolor Flat Black Wheel Paint. No clearcoat. Taped off the rim section, and used an aerosol can cap for the circle around the Mini Logo. I initially left the whole center cap silver, but it didn't look quite right. Here is how they turned out:

Very nice paint job. Had those wheels on my last MC and always thought about doing exactly that, but never got the chance. They came out real nice. Good job!

Hey Dan00Hawk, these look nice. I'm not familiar with this 15. Is it a 15x6 or 15x5.5?

Sharp paint work, I would do something like this on my 07, if they would fit over the calipers on the R56.

Don, those won't clear your calipers or rotors. Those big brakes you have are nice, but they do complicate the choice of a 15" wheel.

It's a 15 x 5.5 wheel.

Mini factory wheels: http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...factory_wheels

Thanks for the compliments!

Just mounted them earlier today (wet, foggy, rainy) since snow is forecast on Wed night.

I also weighed them, and they came in at 30 lbs (on my not so precise analog bathroom scale) with wheel and tire.

Looking good. I hope that we get some snow in the next few days like they say we will.

they look good.

of course, I am now also in the 'shopping for winter wheels and tires' mode....which wouldn't be such a big deal if I hadn't traded those to you!

(but, I wouldn't have gotten to enjoy the 17s all summer!)
