internet purchases: how does sensor swap work?

I've got the new TPMS sensors on the wheels of my new 2007 MCS. If I purchase a tire & wheel package from places like Tirerack or Edgeracing, how does that work? Do I have to send in my sensors? (not an option for me). Or is it possible to get a discount if they ship unmounted? Sorry if this is dumb - idea of buying wheels on the internet is a new concept to me.

I'd call Alex at Tire Rack & ask him. To be honest I've not a clue.

You can have your tire and wheel sent out unmounted, but with addional shipping, it costs more not less.

We can send a new set in the tire and wheel if needed, you just program them to your Mini's computer

So, I guess the cheapest route is to have them sent mounted, and pay a local installer to swap the valves & re-balance?

If the sensors were reasonably priced I'd just order a new set, but I've read they're $50-$60 each.

Thanks,
Pasta
