street set up question. 17" on stock suspension or 16' on coilovers

I would like to hear about your experiences on the compromise between comfort and performance:

scenario 1: running 17' light weight wheels with 215 50 17 tires (possibly toyo proxes) on stock suspension

scenatior 2: 16' light weight wheels with with tallr profile and coilovers.

The car will see track and autoX duties. nothing heavy, maybe four or five events a year. I will have another set of wheels and tires for those days.

I am leaning towards scenario 1 for cost issues as well as not being bumped up in autoX classes.

i would like to hear your thoughts.

Cheers
Cenk

If it wasn't for getting bumped into another class at autoX I'd go for 16" rims on coilovers... but since that will put you into another class, I'd go for the 17s...

However, you can still be "stock" if you use swaybars/springs that were NOT installed by the factory on YOUR car but are available options...

So, you always find take-offs... I think *earlier* (02-03?) used a stiffer setup than 05-06, and then there's always the sport swaybars...

why would you use 215/50/17? 215/45/17 is closer to stock OD and more prevalent

correction on the size, I meant 215-45. I am leaning towards the stock shocks and springs on 17" with some cheater sways at this point.

imho, the best compromise is my setup for street.

h-sports, 22mm rear sway, 16x7.5" light weight wheels, 205/50/16 GSD3's.
comfy yet very sporty.
