Touch the Sky - Mt. Mitchell MINI Run II - Oct 19

Mt. Mitchell is 6,941 feet above sea level and is the highest point east of the Mississippi!

North View from Mt. Mitchell

South View from Mt. Mitchell

I plan on starting in Lewisville/Clemmons area off 421 N and stopping for lunch in Boone around noon. Our leave time will be approx. 10:30am. I would like everyone attending to be at our starting point in Lewisville at 10am.

The plan is to drive 421 to Boone and then eat lunch and then catch the BRP south towards Mt. Mitchell. We will stop at a few overlooks to stretch and take pictures. The famous Linvile Viaduct is an amazing site to see and drive on. Its worth the trip to see it.

Walkie talkies are a must. We will be on channel 20, sub-channel 20.

When we leave Mt. Mitchell we will head down toward Marion, NC and stop at a small spot for Ice Cream. I-40 is only a few miles from Marion and we'll catch I-40 and head back toward I-77.

This is a long drive and should take over 6 hours from start to finish, possibly longer. There are places to stay if you feel like it.

Please post your questions below so I can get everything worked out for this amazing drive.

Here is our route!

Mt. Mitchell official site is here:

There is a spot near where 77 and 421 intersect that we can all meet up at. Its a fairy large gas station. I'll try and find that exit number this week.

Another bit of info:
Last year this joint club run initiated the the Motoring for Cancer banner that has traveled across the US and raised a lot of money for Cancer Research. That banner will be with us again this year. What a perfect way to celebrate its journey!

Since this is not a Mini Motoring Club of the Carolinas event, m2c2.us I would appreciate it if you would keep it on the NAM Fourm or your own website unless you clear it with one of our officers. We do not post on your site and would not unless we talked to someone about the event.
Sincerely, Luke, President

Its not a club event at all its an invitation to all MINI owners, just like last year. If I remember correctly you and about 10 other MINI owners enjoyed this event last year. Have it removed if you don't want it here.
