Opinions on Lowering Options

Background

I finally convinced my wife to lower her Countryman S (non sport)

So I have done all the reading and research available on this site and others. Here are the options I am considering and pros cons.

Springs (HR or NM) plus Adj Rear LCA - $500
Cheapest option but I worry about the ride comfort and longevity of the stock non sport shocks

Springs plus Bilstein B4 or OEM Sport Struts/Shocks plus Adj Rear LCA - $700
Still concerned about the ride and longevity but it is a minor concern. This may be the best combination of price and performance.

Megan Coilovers plus Adj rear LCA - $1050
This is the most expensive option but from my understanding the best performing and best riding. I feel that these are overkill since I will likely only adjust these once. I would also prefer not to spend this much.

I just need some opinions. I have lowered a number of cars over the years and typically go with matched strut spring setups or coilovers so i am a little leery of the spring only options even with the upgraded "OEM" struts. If I do the mod and it rides crappy I will be in the doghouse.

Thanks for your help.

I just installed the Megan springs on my wife's "non-S" and I couldn't be any happier. I got them for $186 shipped and installed them myself. Pretty straight forward install. The change in handling in cornering is amazing as well. Just a thought if depending on how much $$$ you want to spend.

Here's my non-sport CM with H&R springs. 18x8 et40 wheels, 245/45 tires. It looks great and handles much better at nice roads. BUT if the roads where you live are crappy, I will suggest either going with Megans or getting Bilstein HD/sport package dampers with this setup. The non-sport dampers are too soft and the rear of the car becomes really jumpy. The front is ok but again the dampers are a little soft for proper shock absorbing with H&Rs.

All in all, from my previous feedback from R56 on Megans, I will suggest getting the coilovers. At worst, you can adjust it to the wife's liking.

I will also suggest NOT to go with a springs only option unless you have really really REALLY nice roads over there.
