just would like to know some update on any strange noise of DFV?

some of my friends said their DFV constantly had strange noise, though not big deal, annoying after all...

I've never tried them on the Mini, but I don't hear noises with Ohlins on Subarus and EVOs when properly installed.

I also got that from my friends who had EVO and STI... ... that they HAD some noises with Ohlins from tower part...

they had to re-install them once a year to eliminate the noise... but it'll come back very soon though no impact on handling.

No noises on the Cooper S with the Ohlins I owned. However, even though the camber plates were not noise makers on my car, they often can be the main culprit when it comes to noise. A tried and true camber plate and proper install is imperative... a lesson learned from some rushed installs in the past.

lol i bought my ohlins for my evo from this guy! like people have been saying, amazing ride and comfort on the road

oh, and will be buying bilstein sports from him soon!

Oh....Performance Shock. West Coast US distributor. I was talking to Ohlin USA earlier this week about spring rates, very good people. Told me if I needed revalve work done, PSi would be the guys to send it to if I didn't want to send it to NC.

Ohlins are so dreamy...love mine! Can't wait to put my Hyperco coilover springs on them!

Mine shipped with 400lb fronts and 342lb rears. Getting my Vorshlag's in about one hour. Also Ohlins has dropped the price of all the road and track coilovers. It happened awhile ago. Not sure when exactly, but remember it being said on the EVO forums. But these used to retail at $2800. Checked the springs, fronts are -19 so 400lbs but rears are -11 so should be 308lbs but it also says 50C that would be 286lbs. So confusing how they mark their springs. The Vorshlag's are a piece of artwork.

I run ohlins on my motorcycles and they are superb. The downside of this is because of the materials they use to reduce friction (seals) require complete (expensive) rebuilds quite often compared to "lesser" suspensions. Ohlins certified rebuilds on my forks and shock cost more than buying complete forks and shocks from other manufacturers.

The point of my post is to ask you (and others that are running them) to keep us updated as you get real life mileage on these. 5,10,15000 miles etc. I don't mind ohlins rebuilds on my bikes as they may run 15000 miles in their entire life span. Where as my mini hopefully will do 20,000 miles a year.

Thanks,
Monty

Will let you know. I drive 150 miles a day, five days a week. My car is still in the garage waiting for winter to come to a close. Should be out in a week or two I hope.

I have PSS10s now and am looking to replace them with Ohlins. PSS10s are just too harsh for the street in my opinion.

That surprises me. Are you running them on fully soft?

Have you lowered the car a lot? One problem with the bilsteins is if you fully lower the car it decreases the shock travel / piston stroke, so you can hit the bump stops. They need some travel to work properly.

Interestingly the bilsteins and ohlins are both known as quite "comfortable" setups. Both run quite soft springs and valving in the rear, relative to the front. This is something that tends to increase the perception of comfort and compliance on a FWD car. Most mini suspension setups tend to run a relatively "square" setup, with the rear quite stiff. This increases the perception of bumpiness or skittishness etc

Yes, I am on full soft and it is tolerable. I am at max allowable height. I tried all sort of settings and find soft to be the best for the street, even though it gets very bumpy on our bad Buffalo roads. The stiffer settings are too harsh for me, but I feel will be great for autocross. My next thing would be to put my rear bar at full soft as well and see how it does.

I will keep them for this autocross season, but will probably try Ohlins next year.

Thanks for the input. With the price drop, I think I'm going with the Ohlins.

Ok looking to upgrade my coil overs from my Megans to these Ohlins… from what Ive been reading these sound like what I'm looking for...I do only street driving and I'm just looking for a better ride….Two questions, 1) i love the slammed look. So running 18's how low will these go? I don't like much if any wheel gap… Question 2) Which adjustable camber plates go best with the Ohlins for street use?
Thank you..

Dude, BlackKat13, swing by to the 626 and drive my MINI for a sec. You'll know if the Ohlins are for you or not after you've ridden in it....

Here's my "needs". I want to upgrade from my H&R springs to a set of coilovers. I'll be 100% honest.....I'm never going to track my car and I only lower my cars for aesthetic purposes. Having said that, I DO NOT want a shitty ride.....I would like a nice, "better than stock" ride. Everyone keeps raving (and I'm sure for good reason) about the Ohlins, but in my application if I'm never going to track my car, aren't these overkill? If so, what would be the ideal coilover for me?

The ideal coilover for you is Ohlins. It's because of the DFV (dual flow valve) it allows these coilovers to ride much better then stock and still perform. I have them on my 2008 EVO and have them on my 2013 roadster. On my EVO they are revalved and 12K front and 10K rear swift springs. Still rides GREAT!. The only problem with the mini is the ohlin springs may be a bit soft for me, and if so I'll just switch in stiffer springs.

Remember your EVO weighs like 800 lbs more than a MINI! So you don't need to go too stiff.

And yeah I don't know if I'd call them overkill. They're just the best road&track compromise coilover out there, and you have to pay a little more for that quality.
