I figured this would be more suited in the suspension thread as I have been a lurker on here for about a year. Normally I am a post whore by day when I owned my VW Corrado, but I seem to stick in the shadows now.
Anyways, I purchased my Mini Cooper S in Dark Silver the day after Christmas in 2008. Was the greatest Christmas present I have given myself!!
I wanted to post up a few pics (theyll be up shortly I need to re-install Lightwave since I just installed Windows 7), of my mini that is now on H&R coils and Maxxim (Konig) 18x7.5 with 215/40/18 Falken 512 tires.
One thing that I also wanted to ask was I noticed after coilover install, as most people report anymore, I have the vibration/shimmy when accelerating in lower gears. Im not THAT low, but it seems to have come back since the wheels last night.
One thing that I noted was that the upper strut attachment (for camber) had shifted since I installed the coils. You can clearly see this by the way the nut was holding on the paint, and is now visible when you look at it. I had torqued them to the factory specs....should I lift my car and adjust this back?!
nice looking ride , love the color, if I had to do it over that would be my color choice.
I am looking into some future installs for this spring. For the front bumper install, how was it? Does one need extra (spare) parts for this install. I have heard of extra tabs???
Sorry I took so long to respond I never got a notification email saying someone replied! lol.
As far as install it was very straight forward. If you can unscrew and unclip a few plastic pieces its very simple. The hardest part was getting to the bolt that is behind the plastic fender piece...I ended up breaking a clip on the passenger side but thats it.
I used the existing bolts that came from my old front bumper (maybe 6 screws and some push tabs).
The problem I ran into was the bottom lip section had some that I couldnt find..so I took them from the front damn off the original bumper. Easy Cheesy!
