Replacement R56 Shocks

I got my ride back from the shop after my accident and now it's riding like crap...

I think I'm in need to replace my shocks... Car is scraping in the front but before the accident it hardly did... So I think the shocks are blown...

Was leaning towards Koni's but I haven't really looked to deep into it yet... Any one have any recommendations?

Currently on factory shocks/struts with H&R springs...

Thanks!

I'd recommend switching to TSW springs since you are in Dallas already I'm really happy with them on the stock OEM shocks and you can pick these for cheap from the Marketplace here or on metroplex.org. If you've got more money to spend I'd go coilovers, doesn't make sense to me to spend a 1K on a springs+shocks combo, although saw some people being happy with the Koni FSDs for R56.

What problem is the car exhibiting? After a bump, is it bouncing up and down like there is no dampening? Is it tracking poorly?

Yeah riding rougher and the amount of dampening has been reduced greatly...

On wavy'ish streets where the lull portion isn't very deep it feels like I'm driving a old fart car... U know the big boat feeling from a Buick... hahaha....

I think it's mainly my front struts...

On a flat spot, pick a corner (bumper) and push the car down hard and let go to let it bounce. If it keeps moving after a couple of times, you need new shocks. Do it at each corner.

I would change all four shocks since they are should be the same vintage. At minimum, change them in matched axle pairs (i.e. fronts).

I plan on changing all four at once... Just need some suggestions on brands & ride quality and response...

What do you do/want to do with the car? Track, autox, spirited road driving, normal driving etc. Do you need adjustability? This will help determine what shocks you should get.

It'll be spirited road driving/normal driving...

Don't care about adjustablity... I had them on my previous car on never touched the setting once I dialed in where I wanted it...

Hmmm...

I'm debating this...

http://www.altaperformance.com/produ...-Touring-Sport

VS.

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...per_fsd_shocks

How are the H&R shocks compared to Koni FSD's?

I'd be paying for roughly the same amount with the exception of the H&R's I'd be getting another set of springs vs. only the shocks/struts on the FSD's.

Anyone have the H&R shocks/struts?

I think... and I could be wrong as the R56 shocks are new, but at least with the R53 Koni did not recommend their FSD shocks to be used with lowering springs. Many people used them anyways and I haven't read of any problems or complaints.

I had lowering springs with the OEM sport shocks for awhile and hated the ride. The car would slam down on the bump stops and over extend coming back up. It was clear the OEM shocks couldn't sufficiently dampen shocks to keep the suspension from bottoming out, then floating, which seriously unsettled the car. Some kind of improved shock is a must with most lowering springs.

I currently have the JCW shocks and springs and think its a night and day improvement over the OEM sport suspension. Since you've already invested in springs, it might make more sense to save a few hundred dollars and just buy shocks. I certainly think you're on the right track. North American Motorsports has a sale going on Koni's until June 20th. I've bought from those guys before and they were great.

Thanks for the feedback so far...

I want to get Koni's but they're pretty pricey and everyone on NAM seems to recommend them...

Thinkin bout the Bilstein's though because they're much cheaper and all the BMW guys rave about them... Plus all the high-end Euro cars seem to use them...
