Cheapest place to purchase power steering pump?

My power steering pump will not turn off unless I disconnect the battery. Looks like it is time to be replaced. It slowly started to mess up. For the last week or two it would turn on by itself after the car was off. I would go to the garage and it would be whinning. Well it ended up killing my battery once and now it is going non-stop.

I thought I saw somewhere online there were remanufactured pumps for less then $200 but can't find them. Any ideas where I can get one at a decent price?

You need to get this fixed ASAP! Mine did it, but I was still under warranty. If you can't get it fixed immediately, at least go under the car and unplug it before you risk a fire.

I'm a newbie so please forgive my ignorance but... Wouldn't the sensor/switch that triggers the pump be the suspect rather than the pump itself? Or is the sensor/switch integrated into the pump?

I would check your relay under the hood.

I justed looked and couldn't find a relay for the steering. I've lent my manual to a friend so I'm no help. It would suck to buy a pump and find out it was something else.

Makes sense...I did a little bit of reading and found someone that had the same symptoms where their pump would not turn off. In their case it was a faulty pump. If there was a relay or switch that would make sense though.

From what I have been able to dig up, it seems to always be a faulty pump. I have to replace my pump now too, just out of warranty. I have been able to find a pump, but not "how to" instructions. Any one know how to replace the pump?
