03 mini cooper transmission problems

03 mini cooper 5 speed transmission won't shift into 5th gear or reverse. no other problems with any gears. is this a linkage problem or something inside tranny???thanks mark 88.5

take off the intake box and look at the linkage mechanism.
is the trans making any kind of weird noise?

Something inside the tranny I'm, afraid to tell you. It's a common occurance with the pre Getrag trannies. How many miles does your car have on it? I'd fight BMW on this one if I were you. Keep us informed and good luck.

Lucky you!! Warranty rocks when it comes to expensive parts!

I had the same issue as you, but almost every gear were hard to get in...

It cost me $4000+ to get a new tranny installed...

At least, I got the new 05 gear ratio and LSD... But for that amount of money, I'd rather have a twincharge kit lol

I have seen the bracket under the intake box for the cable come off and wedge itself in there and found 5th and reverse to not work. Never had to change a trans for this reason ur having, but u never know.
