Check Engine Light - Cooper S

My check engine light went on before I left the dealer and they could not turn it off. They say the computer shows the gas cap is off but this is not the case. I have not been back to have it fixed since my selling dealer was 4 hours away. Any similar problems out there? :???:

When I turn my car on, the Service Engine Soon lamp goes on, but only for maybe 10 seconds, at which point it goes off for good... Well that is unless the engine stalls because I forget to press the clutch when approaching a stop sign (I guess i'm used to automatics!). If there is a dealer closer to you, then you should go there to have your Mini serviced!
